Nigel
I will strip and examine the probably get a local rebore shop to do the cra
nk and block if required. Rebuilding and head reprofiling I'll probably do
myself. I will probably get hardened inserts put in also. Some machining I
can probably get done if required by my sub contractor machine shop. I got
a bit interested in the bore Vs stroke for 1340cc . I might look into that
also.
I got machined and rebuilt modified mini and MGBGT engines in the past (bef
ore the kids started growing up) but have really only been doing vintage mo
torcycle engines recently.
(Oh yes , done some work on 998 metro and 1275 MG metro A series engines ,
but not full rebuilds)
A quick question , What gearbox do they use when installing a K series eng
ine?(I know there must be a website for it somewhere)
I have been eyeing up one of the new MINI engines we have lying about in th
e test shop. It looks way too tall though.
Also
my garage has 1-1/2" x 8" roof support beams on 18" centres, I simply sprea
d the load by drilling 2 off 1/2" dia holes near the top of 3 beams, then
dropped a 3mm steel plate down from each one using 12mm bolts to secure. T
hese plates the carried a 1-3/4 dia steel tube about 40" long along the axi
s of the car. From this hung the block and tackle. Garage roof hasn't cave
d in - YET !!!
