Hi, Alan...
With respect to correctly sized LCB....
for the stock and/or short cammed engine
(with largest Mickey D's in one hand and
Vizard's book in the other) in a word NO,
not in and of itself with respect to the stock engine, or even as part
of a free
flow system, unless you are cruising the
highways at 70+ most of the time.
For a trifle more power...
The short 3-1 is better for fuel economy below the rpms associated with
tooling
around town and driving applications wherein rpm's associated with the
above
paragraph aren't likely to be exceeded most of the time. The LCB under
these
circumstances would give nothing in the
way of either power or economy, EXCEPT
in the higher rpm ranges only.
All of which means I have chosen the wrong one for my application!!! But
then
again, I had the Judson in mind when I
spec'd the engine........and so, am to be forgiven!! :)
As Nigel says, headers are usually an
"along with" item in terms of other upgrades cause they just don't do
that
much on these engine, in and of themselves and produce (per buck or
pound spent).
However, manifold notwithstanding, simply bolting up a free flow exhaust
system (RC40 fr'instance) to the stock
manifold on the stock engine, will result
in power/economy gains far more so than
just bolting on a header, in and of itself.
Here again we are talking stock flow figures, shorter cams, etc. and al
according to DV.
So please don't start taking shots at the
messenger!! :):) Stay mad at Nigel...keep
shooting at him...he is young and strong
and can take it...I am but an old man...
I am "confused and disoriented" to the extent I can finally get away
with shoplifting! :)
