I suspect that you have some calipers that are ready for a rebuild. These pistons don't retract as the new cars do, but merely relax. If the dust seals are stiff and totally dried out it will inhibit the relaxing of the pads from the rotors.
I rebuild a lot of these calipers and sometimes it's almost impossible to get out the pistons because there's 40 years of crud and dried up rubber involved.
Another possibility on the calipers is the m/cyl is holding too much pressure on the system with it's internal residual valve.
A suggestion to pinpoint either of these points I've covered is to do this: If you have enough room in your garage to jack up the front wheels before you roll out the car, do it and see if either or both of the front wheels are hard to rotate. If they are, then try loosening up a bleeder on either wheel to let off the residual pressure. You'll only get a small amount of fluid out at best, but then try the spinning of each front wheel again. See if one or both goes easier. If they both are still stiff, I'd say time to take off the calipers and do a rebuild on them, or buy a pair of rebuit ones from a reputable source. Not nice to go to the low bidder on this!!
If you do rebuild them, don't use brake fluid in the reassembly process. That's just a terrible thing to do. Use brake assembly lube like you're supposed to. There is also an orientation to the pistons when you assemble them. YES, there is too!!
