Wimpy....
There are 1500 owners who would very
much like to be in your shoes with your
1275 driveline set-up, believe me!!
When YOUR transmission goes, you
can at least exchange it for the readily
available, easily installable Datsun 210
conversion for about what it costs for
a rebuilt British ribcase at today's prices.
AND, you have the benefit of already having the higher geared 3.7 diff.
as well
(most likely) which came stock in the later
1500 Spridgfires. Which is a good thing
considering the first 3 ratios for the 210
gearbox are slightly lower than those in
the ribcase, yet you have .82 5th gear
to ecoomical, quiet cruise.
So do whatever you need to do with the
heater box, but hold onto what you have
as a driveline. The Series "A" 1275 is
bascially bulletproof as long as you change oil/filter regularly and
don't over-
rev it. It is also highly "tuneable" should
the mood strike you, later "downline".
I respectfully suggest you be mighty cautious when driving the machine
until you can get the camber issue
sorted and the vehicle properly
aligned. If you ever need to make a
"controlled" emergency stop under present
circumstances, most especially in
contaminated surface conditions, you and
others concerned could be in a world of
hurt.
Same with getting that heater box fixed...
those fumes you are smelling are carbon
monoxide. One thing to get a whiff of this
once in a while...quiet another as a steady
diet!! :)
