Yep..you got it all, and you got it right.
However....while I personally like running
well vented, there is nothing wrong with the simple pre-'68 intake
manifold mounted, diaphragm equipped PCV
valve fed from the timing case cover.
This is a good KISS (keep-it-simple-
stupid) PCV system teamed with the
filtered oil filler cap. There is virtually
no maintenance to this system besides
renewing the cap once a year and the
rubber diaphragm when it becomes
porous (the engine begins smoking out
the exhaust and using oil like crazy when
this occurs...so you'll know "when"!:).
If you have decided to go "vented", then
you need only call Dave if you decide to join the vent tubes prior to
the catchcan
instead of running them separately to same. "Separately" I can vouch for
through personal experience...no problems. "Joined" prior to the
catchcan
I have never run so defer to Dave Anton
who can advise on this method.
With a stock or mildly tuned engine,
a 1/2" vent off the valve cover
with a 1/2" vent off the timing chain cover
is all you really need for a stock or even a
mildly tuned motor. However, you can not
"overvent" the crankcase according to
David Vizard (he literally wrote the book on these motors)....the more
the
merrier is his rule and he ought to know.
He was Anton's partner for God knows
how many years before he retired a couple of years ago.
Good luck with the rebuild, Duncan. May
I suggest Dave Vizard's book on the subject before you do the rebuild?
Chock
full of good rebuilding and tuning info. :)
