"We are in the process of relocating....
sporadic cell service"
Ah...a "serious" matter, then. I'd go with
Biff Jones idea for sure. A second distributor...all set up, spare spark
plugs,
spare fan belt, and a length of spare hose
and ignition wire, spare fuel pump, and
necessary small bag of tools. The all
important flashlite of course
and a portable starter/charger
as well if you're really out there in the
sticks.
Of course...
what will serve you best is a quality
scheduled, preventive maintenance program (and the "right attitude"
towards
being "situationally aware" in terms of survival in the appropriate
terrain in
which you may find youself, weather
included) which insures to the extent
reasonably possible that all remains in
good shape in terms of water pump,
alternator, battery, etc. and other items
which can be "hard timed" (replaced before they go).
Of course, a spare engine, gearbox, etc
is somewhat out of the question but
one wouldn't want to find oneself out
in the freezing cold/snow or stuck in the
middle of death valley without water, so
to speak. And if you've animals to worry
about..."carry" what you think you'll need! :)
