Belay the first paragraph of my previous post then.
Now that I know the circumstances, I totally
agree with your mech. in that you need to
"vent" the crankcase, either to the airfilters
(if possible) or to atmospher via a "breather" similiar to the one you can
find at www.speedwellengineering.com
under "performance, misc.". These breather
cans are also available for more reasonable prices from Jeg's and/or Summit
.
Open up whatever vents you have on the
valve cover and skip the charcoal cannister
competely with respect to the motor.
Now, because the fuel system is
closed loop via the charcoal cannister, you
MAY run into a vacuum problem within the
fuel tank under high loads (continuously
high rpm) since you'll no longer be "pulling" air from the charcoal cannist
er
into the crankcase.
This could lead to a general leaning out
of the mixture under high loads unless
you "vent" the fuel tank to atmosphere
by going to a pre-emissions "vented"
fuel cap.
This should solve the problem of crankcase
gases forcing their way out via the oil "stick" tube. If the foregong reduc
es this
but does not stop it entirely, you can always
go to an electric fuel pump and use the
mechanical fuel pump port to "vent"
the lower crankcase as well. :)
