Since you've gone with an Ignitor (PerTronix?) why not go with the same
(PerTronix) wires. Assume (ass-u-me)
you are using one of their coils as well?
Otherwise, Accel, NGK, Magnecor,
etc. are available at performance speed
shops. Go with a metal conductor type like the original Lucas
"Bumblebee"
performance wire more or less, in 7 or
8mm depending upon whether you choose to use the stock Lucas resistor
tips.
If you really want to go crazy with wires
and want something really wild and very
well insulated (and "built")....go Nology
Hot Wires. Vizard dynoed these and found
they do a bit extra "zap". These things are
so well built I don't know if you ever have
to replace them! www.nology.com
Getting back to "normal" wires....
If you use the tips you can use a non-
resistor spark plug of the NGK "6" heat
range....BP6ES. If you aren't using the
Lucas resistor spark plug caps...BPR6ES
(the "R" for "resistor"). According to
Vizard the NGK "6" range covers it for
the 1275 range except for supercharged
or very high compression track motors
where colder "7" or even "8"'s may be
the ticket.
Watch the gaps at the plugs with the
electronic ignition systems and uprated
coils in terms of going greater than .028
'cause some of the rotors aren't up to
carrying a lot of current. They "crack"
or "split" under the higher demand and
all quickly goes "dead".
I had this problem (25D4 type)
and ended up using
a better built "quality" rotor from Peter
C.'s Worldwide Auto Parts....
