The restrictor inserted in the hose from the oil separator is a modification and not a stock part rather a jerry rig piece of a standard plumbing compression fitting he used to restrict the line, so it was not an official California set up. All I know to do is return it to the direct hose and see how it runs. Although curiosity leads me to wonder why he did it. If I recall correctly in 74 model year the pancake looking PVC valve on top the intake manifold was deleted and the Y connector to the carbs took its place.
There were so many different versions of the emissions controls over that period of years and to confuse things different ones for California make it confusing to find a diagram that is specific to any given car. The manuals all seem to be rather general. My official BMC manual has no emission section at all. Course my main concern is there is no build up of pressure in the crankcase. This car is surprisingly free of oil leaks. It also has a spin on oil filter and oil cooler which is a plus. I have no idea if the engine has been bored out or any other internal modifications and I am not going to tear it apart to find out as long as it is running well. Let sleeping dogs lie or in this case running ones run.
