Hi there,
Just signed up to this site.
Last year got myself a '59 frogeye for a groundup restoration
(definately not a runner!!). I think it spent its initial life in
sunny Houston Texas before being repatriated to uk. It then
apparently stood sometime before I got my hands on it. Anyway thats
the history lesson.
Taking it steady with the bodywork last year but getting there slowly
(taught myself to TIG weld - a very neat way to weld!). I am spending
time on indoor work because UK garages in the winter aren't fun - and
I'm getting soft.
I'm now concentrating on engine stuff and ancilliaries such as
distributors, carbs, dynamos, starters etc. In my perfectionism I
would like to make the engine a factory finish/original as possible
regarding scheme and colour. Should I spend time polishing aluminium
parts if they are only to be painted anyway? Which bits do I paint
and which not, what colour? I assume the paint colour is MOWOG green?
I am guessing that everything is painted accept ;
1) Carbs
2) Intake manifold
3) Fuel pump
4) Dynamo and starter end caps
5) Distributor body?
6) Transmission housing?
7) Oil filter head housing
8) Thermostat housing
9)
Tried looking for info on the internet using Google and Yahoo but
absolutely Fanny Adams.
I would be very grateful for anybodys help.
