Whatever! I didn't leave the bugey group, had too many people write to me and tell me to just put up with you guys. Some people have an interest in the cars and what others are doing to them, other are just jealous. About luxury cars, doing a nice job on my seats, adding air bags to the suspension and triangulating the rear end not only makes for a great ride and great looks, but makes it handle unbelievably well. I'm so proud of myself...I'm sitting here patting myself on the head because I can't reach my back. After nearly a year of my poor little car sitting on jack stands with the front end in the air, I finished the assembly of the front end with poly bushings, new lever shocks and springs. I had to replace one "A" arm due to wear from the folcrum pin...if you don't do any other maintenance on your car, make sure you lube the front end regularly!!! Brad, I do the same thing with possums. They are so butt ugly..like ugly large rats. I usually trap them and re locate. Actually, it is a real challenge because I use the same technique they used in cartoons when I was a little kid. I take a cardboard box, put a rock on the top for weight, take a pencil and prop it up, put some cat food in the back and tie some black thread to the pencil bottom and stretch it across the rear of the box so he trips it at the food. Frequently, people jack and adjust the alignment to the doors fit perfectly, then carefully weld a piece of pipe or angle iron from the front of the door opening to the rear, just tack it in, on both sides and then form an "X" from the front of one door opening to the rear of the other door opening and visa versa. Would not hurt to tack these two pieces together where the "X" crosses also. Then before doing anything else, re measure and or fit the doors in place to double check a perfect fit. With out the... Chuck...do not be mislead by compression ratios which could be had back when leaded ("manly") octanes were available . Today's unleaded "garbage" octanes require a little more thought in this di rection, assuming a cast iron head and the ignition advance curve you're probably working with, along with a "mild" cam with relatively little duration which will favor maximum "trapping" of the combustion gases in favor of the low end of the useable rpm spectrum (torque.. as in street application). Sure a cold box is worth fitting, Jens. Not a new car out there that hasn't got one. Jacques LaClainche's website shows his BE with a cold air box. Looks like a sealed "mailbox" with holes cut in the appropriate place for the carbs and a "heater" hose ducted to the front by the grille (but on the carb. side). Very practical, very functional. Yeah... California has really gone over the top on classic car "emissions". It's all part of a political agenda in this particular respect, obviously. Has nothing to do with air polution really. I mean my Vizardized '74 1340 almost made it by CT emissions and was only "out" by 50 ppm hydrocarbons or less than .05 CO, depending upon which side of the correct ignition timing we chose to go. And this thing had a VP3 cam, 45DCOE and got 90+hp to the rear wheels. When properly tuned and maintained, most emissions non-equipped vehicles can get by the criteria... MORE

Ken, If you use a catch can, and run any hoses up vertically for any distance at all, I don't think you need any baffles. Any oil that pukes out will end up on the sides of the hose and run back down into the crankcase unless there is such a rush of air out of there to carry it into the tank. Mitch..IMHO.... if you are going to use the Judson, I would call APT and source the best quality valve they have to offer. Otherwise, unless you've got a hairy cam in there or are running 10.0-1 or a higher static compression ratio, standard quality/design should be fine normally aspirated. About oversized exhaust valves....many moons ago when the first 1275 Cooper S types came out, they went with a larger 1.4 intake valve and subsequently, went to a larger than stock exh.valve to "match", feeling this would give more powe r. Hello friends, I am in the middle of a rebuild of my Midget's Weber DGV. This is far from the first DGV I have rebuilt but this time I thought I would share a few pictures and a couple of references. Here is what Pierce Manifolds recommended for the DGV 5A in the Midget 1500 application: Jetting for DGV 5A main 140/135 e-tube F50/F6 air corr 155/160 idle 55/60 needle & seat 200 My carb is correct except for the air corrector jets. Thanks for all the comments. Everyone was pretty musch right - it's the oil filter sensor wire and dash warning light. We had replaced thar damend old oil filter housing with a new spin-on and lost the reference. No sooner had I posted this message and ran back to the garage, my Dad figured it out. I'll be asking you guys soon for ideas on transporting the ol' A-H from El Paso to Dallas TX. We're just staring tomake plans, and so far folks like Uhaul haven't been very helpful (the A-H is too narrow for their auto transport).... MORE
G'day Vince Were does this yellow/brown wire start and finish. That would help determine what it is for. But I think Chris might be correct - it's the oil filter warning light. Inside the oil filter housing is a spring-loaded ball bearing. When the filter gets blocked (cos you haven't changed it for 17 years) the pressure causes the ball bearing to move against the spring thus opening a by-pass passage for the oil. On the outside of the filter housing is a spade terminal. Power runs from the ignition circuit, through the light bulb behind the red light... MORE
Hi David, This is the type of rubber in o-rings needed for brake fluid applications: Ethylen propylene rubber (EPDM) Likely what you got was a butyl type. That won't resist brake fluid. Try going to a place that does air/oil cylinder servicing or an o-ring house. They're in big cities. Try the yellow pages. Chris... There ARE disadvantages to "in trunk" mounting, no doubt about it. In both my past and current positions I have been trained to think worst case scenarios first and foremost. And I would not personally install a pump on the "inside" myself, for in event of accident, I personally would rather have it ALL "outside" the car, whether I had a "g" cutoff switch intalled or not. However....under normal circumstances, we are not talking the pressures of fuel injection. Jens...suggestion? Go out and purchase a simple Facet solid state electric fuel pump with it's own "incoming" filter. You want the low pressure one, around 3-4psi. Cut out a piece of rubber gasket to place between the pump/body and install it where the stock SU pump went (according to your Haynes manual or whatever you are using) in later cars.
