hey unfortunately a relocation out of the country is frocing me to sell my 75 midget. the car is in good body shape with one small dent behind the license plate and a small tear around the jack hole on the drivers side. i have the title. the engine is all there but we took it apart and it needs lots of work. i was going to get another engine and put it in there but lack of time does not permit. the interior is there but its dirty and the head rests have no vinly on them. this... Duncan I've just finished renovating my hood frame. I decided not to strip it back to bare metal like most of the other parts I've done, but to just give it a thorough rub down and coat of primer. The joint areas were the biggest pita, with paint not adhering correctly, but I fixed that with rubbing them all down again and spot priming them with etch primer. Then finished it with 3 coats of gloss black - looks pretty good now. I then spot riveted back the upper hood material 'stays' and the inner 'pop studs' - looks... MORE

Chris, yes, they're listed as the same part for Bs and Midgets, though the part number is a different one now from the one in the old factory parts book, so it's possible they're not exactly as they used to be. Mine has been really tight since it was fitted about 10 years ago - I keep hoping the hood will stretch and get easier to get the clips fastened, but I've come to the conclusion it's not going to now! Hey group. I think its time to pass my beloved 62 midget onto someone else. But only after Don May gets first refusal!... I'm not in a panic to move it, but i would like to see it go to a good home. Its photos are in the album section under 62 midget... its an original 948 side curtain model with a very new (under two weeks) rebuilt head. it has very nice seats, good dash, everything works, including the windshiled squirters. the hand brake needs adjustment and it could do with a brake bleeding or the very least... Stewart I would be the first to admit that Terry Horler's book contains errors, albeit minor ones. But I can quote you 3 different sources that state that Teal Blue was not a colour option on 1500 Midgets, so in this instance I think Terry Horler is correct. There's a couple of things that I don't quite understand about why you think your car is painted in Teal Blue. And to confuse things even more.... My book (Guide to Purchase and Restore the MG Midget & Austin-Healey Sprite) lists 2 BRG, a Medium Dark Green as GN25/ RM BM079 / DITZ 43342 for the Midget & MGB 64-70. The second is listted as a Medium Dark Yellow Green GN29 / RM BM078 / DUP 8194 also for the Midget & MGB 64-70 & MGC 67-69. I purchased from Moss2 adaptor #235-875. In taking off the old canister, I found the adapter sits real close to the generator. the old canistor mounted on a small mount that in turn attaches to the engine block. the sole purpose of this appears to be to raise the oem canistor oil filter high enough to clear the frame that runs below that side of the engine. if I remove the threaded studs that this mount attaches to the engine block, can I mount the adaptor directly to the engine block with the supplied allen head studs? Hi all I have tried bolting a clip onto a bit of steel first and fitting the trim strip before I pop rivit the clips to the car. This is the strip on the sill and there are 7 clips per side all the same. The returns on the trim are equal so there is no up or down. The only way I can see this working is to insert the trim into the angled part of the clip and push up (or down) hard, push the top of the trim over the rounded part of the clip (in... MORE

G'day Terry I think Trevor could be on to the problem. It sounds like you are fitting the clips upside down. There is no way the two "ears" should hit the bodywork - they will face out from the body at about 45 degrees. The flat side of the clip should be flush with the body. If you are fitting them upside down, a small washer will not help - the trim will be loose after it is fitted. And I certainly would not suggest sliding the trim on - you are guaranteed to scatch the paint. The scratch... MORE
It is kind of sad to see someone out of ignorance paying exorbitant prices for something readily available in their local hardware store... Case in point. On ebay at the moment are a set of four plugs to fill the head of a Midget after removing the Air Pump and Rail. There are 5 bids and the current price is at $20.50. The four plugs are: Standard 1/4" brass flare plugs available at Orchard Supply or any ACE hardware store for less than 50 cents each. I have used them on my 74 when I removed the smog air... MORE
Actually Colin I was playing with these clips and trim while sitting at my desk, and no matter which way I turn the clips, they fall out as the angle changes. So, I may have some bum clips. However, if I alternate the clips (ears skyward, ears groundward) then they should hold in conjunction becuse the trim can't twist that much. Terry I'm about to do exactly this on mine. I think the 'bent up' ears are meant to be uppermost and the tucked in ones at the bottom - at least thats how I'm going to do it. Have you tried 'sliding' the strip on rather than 'clipping' it over the clips? There are two 'gaps' on the underneath of the sill strip, that would allow you to slide it over the clips. I am still struggling with the clips that hold the chrome strips on the sill of my 1972 RWA midget. Now on my 5th lot. Can any one help? The clips have a rounded edge and a bent up one. The bent up one has two ears folded down. I think you fit them with the rounded edge uppermost. Then the bottom lip of the trim goes under the bent up edge and you force the upper lip over the rounded edge so it springs over it. BUT when I put the clip on the sill the ears on... MORE
Hmm, I haven't yet tried to put mine on, but I'm sitting here with the chrome and clips in front of me. First thing I notice is that the lips on the back of the trim are of different sizes. The future 200 watts is correct El Capitan. I just had an error in stating that my current setup puts out 20 amps when it should have said 20 watts. As for the future 200 WATTS IT IS but probably in the '69 CGT as to provide a bit more security (locking doors and an alarm system). I like the visual of the Memorex commercial :) It is the set-up I had in 1992 Civic Si prior to having a stupid driver try and shoot through an intersection at the same time as me in 1995.
