Thanks for the tip on the bonnet. I talked with Jon this morning. Even with shipping costs to the west coast the price can't be beat. Hi all, We had just run out of space in 'Photos'. Only 6 months worth but full up already! To free up space, all pre-04 material has been deleted to allow space for new folk to post their pics. Keep posting pictures, but remember they won't be there forever so save anything of interest to your own drive (subject to the photographer's permission off course). I am fitting new seels to my dual master cylinder and are wondering which way the end bit in the clutch cylinder goes. At the very far end of the return spring is a metal cup and inside this cup there should go a smaller rubber cup (shaped as a cup). The one i took out had turned around on its side thats why i am wondering which way to fit the new one. Is the bottom of the cup facing forward (ie towards the firewall) or backward, it looks like it will fit either way. Jens Jens P.... MORE
I'm standing over my coffee pot staring, as if that will speed it up, real men do that. On top the pot is a knob and two symbols, a dark cup and an white cup. The function I had read is to adjust for weaker or stronger coffee. Turn the knob indicator to the dark cup and all the hot water flows onto the coffee grounds, turn it to the white cup and part of the water is diverted to the edge of the plastic filter holder where a special conduit channels it past the coffee grounds and directly... Duncan I've just finished renovating my hood frame. I decided not to strip it back to bare metal like most of the other parts I've done, but to just give it a thorough rub down and coat of primer. The joint areas were the biggest pita, with paint not adhering correctly, but I fixed that with rubbing them all down again and spot priming them with etch primer. Margaret (and others) I am pretty sure that this alsao has something to do with wear in the pivot points and hinges of the frame. This is why I think this... When you operate the clamps on the header rail it has the effect of tilting the front hood rail backwards so that it contacts the metal of the header rail rather than sitting squarely on top of the rubber seal. This is aggrivated by overtight hood fabric, but more significantly by worn pivot points, particularly in the short metal arms that screw to the header rail. I am... MORE
Chris, yes, they're listed as the same part for Bs and Midgets, though the part number is a different one now from the one in the old factory parts book, so it's possible they're not exactly as they used to be. Mine has been really tight since it was fitted about 10 years ago - I keep hoping the hood will stretch and get easier to get the clips fastened, but I've come to the conclusion it's not going to now! Richard I am restoring a 65 Sprite and originally intended to use a new shell or at least the basic tub (no front wings, doors, bonnet or boot lid) to do this I would have had to modify the rear deck to suit the roadster hood. When my local supplier quoted me 1750 for the tub I changed my mind and set to work restoring the old body. Is that all theres to it, i saw the no in terry holers book but wasnt shore. Forgive me my ignorence but is this a universal system that all paint manufacturers use or is it one of many systems that all paint manufacturers know how to use. Jeremy Quite correct; and you're about the only person to actually 'see' the point I'm trying to make, which is whatever colours were applied in Australia bear no relevance whatsoever to colours applied elsewhere in the world, because those colours were only used in the 'Australian' market. You could pretty much claim that Frogeyes were painted green with yellow spots in Australia - no-one else in the world would really care. But to claim that BRG is an 'official' Frogeye paint scheme is wrong for three reasons, firstly because if it was used in Australia how is that relevant... MORE

I am in need on one sill molding strip for my 74. When I purchased it the PO had mounted those broad chrome/stainless steel? sill covers, fortunately only for show as the sills were not rusted out and did not need hiding behind broad strips of shiny metal. I want to restore back to the simple chrome sill strip. I have one from my 73 which to use which was missing one and now need an additional one, won't be using them on the 73 as it is now my bugeye bonnet spridget. It is Moss item number 459-895... MORE
Stewart I would be the first to admit that Terry Horler's book contains errors, albeit minor ones. But I can quote you 3 different sources that state that Teal Blue was not a colour option on 1500 Midgets, so in this instance I think Terry Horler is correct. There's a couple of things that I don't quite understand about why you think your car is painted in Teal Blue. Actually there is at least one discrepancy in Horlers book with regards to paint colours. Teal Blue is not listed as a 1500 colour and it was initially.. unless someone went to the lengths of stripping a whole car down to nothing, and stripping the shell of all paint inside and out and then re painted my car teal blue! Colin No that statement "Bugeye's never came with British Racing Green as a colour option." is not 'incorrect'. As far as I am concerned Bug/Frogeyes made in England at the factory either for export or home market use did not come with British Racing Green as an OE factory painted colour option. Neither did the Bug/Frogeye's that were sent to Australia leave this country painted as British Racing Green. And to confuse things even more.... My book (Guide to Purchase and Restore the MG Midget & Austin-Healey Sprite) lists 2 BRG, a Medium Dark Green as GN25/ RM BM079 / DITZ 43342 for the Midget & MGB 64-70. The second is listted as a Medium Dark Yellow Green GN29 / RM BM078 / DUP 8194 also for the Midget & MGB 64-70 & MGC 67-69. A lot of modern cars use an all glass bulb with just two wires from it, that is a firm push fit into a plastic holder which itself has "ears" that fasten to the back of the speedo - or whatever. Trevor J. I am using the original Spridget gearshift lever with aftermarket black leather- wrapped gearshit knob topped with a metal disc AH emblem. Picked it up many moons ago from Sports and Classics. Standard aftermarket part also comes in Walnut as well. Jim- Mine is being delivered with a black 5 speed knob, shift pattern in white. No idea if I'll like it. If I don't, I will simply rethread it to accept a leather "MG" logo shift knob. Cannot speak to other states, but in Ohio, Revised Code section 4503.21 specifies that the plate must be in "plain view" and "shall not be covered by any material that obstructs their visibility". Other states have substantially similar statutes. "dfwip" 29453... MORE
