There you go, James. Blue toward orange if you're gonna "drive it like you stole it" and just blue (in the middle) for "normal" daily driving. The Colortune does not lie...it's an excellent little device. "Emissions"....you are correct in your assessment, sir. These are "early emissions" cars....like the "non-emissions" cars that preceeded these, even at the latter setting, the exhaust will smell of unburnt CO and hydrocarbons to one extent or another... it is as it should be and proves the basis for modern emissions laws and applications (catalytic converters and the like). (Your Spridget now smells good, like... MORE

Because James mentioned the K & N deep rammed filters. I mentioned it to my insurace co as in the event of a major claim, I assume they would consider it an engine mod. The "Sprite" bit was just bragging :) "Gary Lazarus" 31372... MORE
hi, ever since i got my midget i had always been aware of the brake switch being inside the car right nest to the pedal- i always thought this was kinda strange! But as i have never really 'looked' at anyone elses midget i didn't know NE diffrent!! then the other day i was looking through the old receipts from the car and there was an invoice to the PO charging for a new brake switch and bracket!! Was only eairler that i looked into it and found out that a nice neat little switch is ment to go... MORE
Well, I didn't get the Riley grill. The seller sent me the email below, a nd I responded by offering him the =C2=A325 off ebay. He responded that he no w wanted =C2=A330, so I backed away. He's pulled it from the auction now (wh ere I was high bidder) so I guess he got a better offer. I'd feel better about it if he's kissed me. Hi Robert, About 9 =E2=80=93 10 pounds weight including packing materials. I should s ay however, that I have received quite a reasonable offer for the Grille off e bay from a... MORE
Hi all, just thought id ask you all what u think of putting fiberglass wings on my 1500? Main reason would be they are cheap (relatively) and don't rust. are they any problem of putting fiberglass wings on a midget? Another plus i suppose is that they are lighter thus increasing BHP per ton. OR rather than wings would a whole front end be better? Just wondering probably never get around to it but i like to know all my options! Cheers Ben Ben Lawlor 31342... MORE

I really have no idea. Just guessing but I wouldn't think it weigh more than the carbs, but that's a LOT for shipping. I want to bid on he the above part, a Riley grill, but the seller says he will only ship to the UK. Would any of our UK listers be willing to accept this part for me and forward it to the US? I've emailed the seller to ask him to reconsider, but he has not answered. Flew out to Laguardia yesterday am, train on up to Newburgh. Acquired the NY State Temp Tag, and drove the B home. No issues. More later once I've had time to sleep. Special thanks for EVERYONE here on the list who offered brakedown assistance, and advice. Fortunatly, the trip was for the most part uneventful, but thanks anyways! As I said, More Later, and some pictures later too. Boy, this is gonna need some work. Quite a bit. Regards, TJ "TJ Tryon, Jr." 31266... MORE
I love it when a plan works out...so far that is. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my new 175/70x13 Yokohamas on the new 5.5 inch Dayton wires were rubbing on sharp bumps and right hand turns. It was scraping the RWArch, and I was a victim of the dreaded driver side droop, not to mention the extra lbs I carry...hitting about 260 at my last weigh in. So, shopping at my handy Checker Auto yesterday, I find a "helper spring" in the trailer parts. Two leaves about 16" long, one for each side. I just installed the... MORE

I haven't seen it before Gerard, but indeed, if it's real, it's disturbing. I actually have little doubt that it's true, or if not in this case, that someone is marketing something very much like this. I use spy-sweeper software to delete all the adware and cookies that are left on my computer daily from the web. It's scary how much there is daily. The adware is there to track my likes and dislikes and web surfing practices. This isn't the only thing that's tracked of course. I recently incorporated a small business on the side and have started... MORE
I'll be flying out to Newburg, NY this weekend to drive the MGB back. It's running well, so there should be no issues. In case there are some forseen issues, I would appreciate people who may live along the way that I can use as an emergency contact. I'll be taking I84 from Newburg to Scranton, PA, then I81 to I80. I'll be taking I80 to Acron, OH, I71 to Columbus, then I70 on in to Indianapolis. If you live on the route, or nearby, and don't mind, I'd love your phone number, which I promise to not pass... MORE
Midget/Sprite-o-files, In the process of getting the Midget back on the road after the looooong winter (will it ever get warm around here? (MA)) I think I will finally install a top.....I've lost 35 lbs, so now I think I could actually get in and out of the car with the top up! I've not had one on the car for 4 years! Besides, as all of you know, these cars should not have hats! But, in the event of rain, I would have some protection....so..... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated regarding installation and suppliers of convertible tops........ MORE
I don't think so, Tom. Considering what you paid, if it's in the decent mechanical shape claimed, I think you did OK for what you paid, personally. I owned a de-smogged '72 until a certain girl ran a Stop sign one night and her insurance co. put me into a new Fiat 1/9. Pull the head and shave it to bring the Comp. Ratio up to no more than 9.5-1, (mine was 10-1 but we had "manly" gas available at that time!:) and purchase a set of 1.75 HS4's suitably calibrated as in Stage 1 of the Special Tuning... MORE

Bill, the normally transverse fwd engine is fairly do-able - the K series transplants popular in the UK are mostly from fwd applications - it's the rwd gearbox to match up with it that is then the tricky part; or more precisely, how you adapt the gearbox to the engine. If it's not a popular conversion, it might need some advanced engineering skills to make the adaptor bits. Not quite sure what you mean by the front portion of a fwd drive assembly, but I assume you mean the complete engine/gearbox/final drive/driveshafts? if so, that'd be quite a bit... MORE
