I was driving to work this morning no problem. A little chilly but that's all. I had to break hard at one point to keep from running the red light. After that, I couldn't put the clutch into first gear any longer and had trouble getting it into second. When I'd slow down to a stop the car would rumble a little. If I took it out of gear it's settle down but I'd really have to work to get it back into second. Would a hard brake make my clutch go out? Could it be something else? When... MORE
This 61 Austin Healy is for sale for $600 dollers in Fallon Nevada. It is all there except for the pink slip. The top has rotted away and there are leaves to remove. Virginia, No. Just hook up the charger to the correct battery posts, i.e., positive charger clamp to the positive battery post (+) and the negative to the negative post (-). Hey Lists!! Drove my Bugeye around the neighborhood yesterday! First time since I bought the disassembled body & boxes of parts 3 1/2 years ago; first time Bugeye has been on road since 1973 (multiple POs). 1380 with headers & Maniflow exhaust - sounds gooood!. It was GREAT! Oh, sure - leaks oil from rear seal area, brakes need to be bled more, speedo didn't work .... But It Ran! In case you didn't notice - I'm just a little enthused, excited, stoked, ... I'm flying off to Louisiana for a visit to help my sister and brother-in-law build a potting shed, not much LBC in that and the only thing the size of a Spridget on their country property is a riding lawn mower. I've only owned one later model Midget; the rest have been older Sprites. But, I had the same noise and while the fuel pump was indeed getting noisey with age, I agree with Paul that you should check your exhaust clearances. The frame rail can resonate like a drum when the exhaust is not quite as tight as it should be and the pipes make contact with the car. But you said that it happens as soon as you unlock the ignition ? Wait until the pilot bearing starts going out... that's a noise that will really confound you.... MORE
Well, I think I have established two things. I need to uncrimp the crank case ventilation systempipe cnnections in the picture which I have not yet done. The second thing is that this won't rectify my oil problem. I am going to do a little reading on the ventilation system over the weekend. Could a blockage somewhere else in the ventilation system be causing a buildup of pressure? Not familiar with this particular piece of macadam but am familiar with like roads around Bear Mountain, Aiderondacks, NY upstate CT and ME, NH and VT. Thank you all for your considered reponses! It turns out after considerable investigation that indeed the car has suffered some kind of shunt to the right front.....the car drives very smoothly at 65- 70mph indicating to me that some alignment has been done....however, it still requires some straightening! Oh... Well...the sun's out here in Stamford, CT and it's a gorgeous day. Isabel went well west and south of us....we were lucky. Carolinas got zapped as usual. Beautiful shores but I don't know how they can afford the insurance. Seems like every coupla years they get blown away...yet again. Well it's about time. My 71 MG is back and refurbed. While it was apart for a new clutch disc, why not put a Datsun 5 speed in it? 266 cam, lite lifters, right springs, new shells on the still-standard crank, Cooper S 163 head with rimflows and ported, 45DCOE, and LCB, with a Kenlowe to cut cooling losses. Cooper S dizzy. I want a merit badge for making the Rivergate kit work. It is not easy for one who must follow directions literally. Much more difficult than it needs to be, for me, anyway. You always cooked the bacon first so you could fry the eggs in it, if you didn't want your eggs sunny side up you simply splashed bacon grease over the top of the yoke. I dont have the smog rules here in Nevada, how do I plug these holes? There are two threaded holes, where the smog equipment exits the exaust manifold. I have the mg79200 in the photos section.
