Hello All. I live in Cheshire, Oregon USA and I'm the new owner of a very nice 1979 MG Midget:) I just bought it this past weekend and I can't wait to play with it. It has a couple of problems that need to be addressed before I can really drive it, one of which is a throttle that keeps sticking wide open. The other is bad brakes;) This combination of issues makes me a bit nervous! It desperately needs windshield wipers and I am having difficulty finding the little 9" wipers that are on it now. Does anyone... MORE
I remember these well. They recommended that you always use the stiffest TP you could find. Then as time went on the TP Mfgs. changed the binders in the TP and they started to disintegrate in the filter cartridge. Ahhh! The price of progress in the totally disposal field of TP!! I am in the middle of changing the front suspension on the 68. I am catching my breath, and allowing the spring pans and disc brake backers to dry from being coated with fresh paint. Thank you to Peter for the new shocks, I will have the cores on their way to you this week. Btw, I was missing the bolt on the right shock that keeps the trunion bolt from turning, I hope this isn't a big issue. Just Ed, the parts are great, everything is going on fine!!! All the bolts coming threaded through the bushings, eliminated... MORE
Listers, I need to sell off some of my spare parts. I have several 948, 1098 and 1275 engine or partial engines to sell. One 1275 is a complete low mileage, clean and running engine. others are rebuildable cores, but pretty much everything I have is degreased and ready for whatever you'd like to use it for (table base?) I also have several MD 266 cams, mostly the narrow lobe variety for use in 948 or 1098 engines. I also have several used headers. all are the 3 into one type. I also have a complete rear clip from... Only duplicate??? I wiish I only got two of all the SPAM messages I get. Over a two day period of time recently, I got hit with no less than 52 copies of the same message. This happened FOUR times. IJust this morning a got ten copies each of the 4 different messages. Adding the sender to the SPAM blocker doesn't help because the just keep changing the sender ID. If I don't delete the SPAM several times a day, it becomes an overwhelming chore to weed out my legitmate mail. It's becoming a nightmare problem and I know... MORE

Folks, after a very disturbing morning, I just have to vent/share whatever with the lists. My grandchildren live in San Antonio, ages 8 and 13, and have a cousin, nearly 15, that lives there too. Our daughter called this morning to let us know there was an Amber alert out for this cousin. I can't tell you what a feeling this gives you. Her mom dropped her off last night for a soccer game (that she later found out had been canceled) and when she went to pick her up, the horror began. The Amber alert was issued at... MORE
I'm having as problem removing the brass nut for the fuel line coming out of the tank. The tank is now off the car but the nut refuses to budge after several days of penetrating oil (Kroil) soaking. Part of the problem is that the nut is an odd size and none of my wrenches/spanners fit it properly. It is within a few thou of .600 inches and this does not match up to fractional sizes. 19/32 is as close as I can find and at that size I have only an open end wrench. I purchased my Sprite... MORE
Rick, I took the less frustrating but more costly option when recently dealing with a leaky MC. Working through Gerard, I sent him the defective unit and he coordinated with Sierra Automotive in CA to brass resleeve it (10-yr warranty). Also had it powder-coated. It is now installed and working flawlessly. The cost was a little more than a new one as listed, but I can move on knowing that it is just as good or better than a standard MC. Good luck, Pete 78 midget Granville, OH "Pete Skalski" 32183... MORE

Well, I got the Riley Grill for $45.00 USD including shipping to someone in the UK. If I can get it posted for another $50 I think I will be happy....but then what is happiness, really? Nigel and Guy...thanks a million, and I may still get back to you on the grill, but Greg Goins has offered to take it and either fit it in his suitcase (probably wont fit) or re-post it to me the cheapest way. Well, I finally succeeded in buying a Riley grill, but now I am back to the price of shipping to the US being a problem. Until I can figure it out, would any of our UK listers be willing to accept shipment for me and then re-ship when I figure out how? Hey all. Yes, it's Graziano. Frankenstein@... is my "dummy" address for yahoo groups. Please respond directly as I'm on the digest. Midget 1500 with twin HS4s, 285 cam, .30 over, head work, 13 row oil cooler, and headers.. As I mentioned a while back, I'm having trouble with the car getting hot here in Tx, which is causing vapor lock. I'm re-installing the original 3 row staggered radiator, and standard water pump with an electric fan. 1) should I wire the fan straight to the ignition so that it runs when the key is in the "on" position whether... A couple questions mostly for the racers in the group, but also any gearbox gurus. 1)Gear box whine: Got my retired racer, soon to be vintage racer Bugeye out for a quick (illegal) run down the road tonight. I have a rib case BMC competition (straight cut, non synchro) close ratio gear box. It whines VERY loudly in 1st through 3rd gears. 4th very was quiet. I wasn't surprised or worried about 1st & 2nd being noisy, but expected 3rd to be quiet. The two tracks I'm going to be running... MORE

Hello again to the group I left for the winter. Now that spring weather is back in Iowa, I am rejoining the collective wisdom of the group. My brake lights do not work. Taillights do come on when the headlight switch is turned on. Looking up the wiring diagram, I assume the first thing that could be giving me trouble is the brake switch. Where is it located? No switch located on the brake pedal as on my other vehicles. Thanks Neil "Neil Hernan" 31909... MORE

I used one for a while instead of a standard SU electric pump on my 1275. It worked fine and I can't remember why I changed back, but it was probably something to do with not being able to dismantle the electronic one if ever anything was to go wrong. Incidentally, the Mechspec 'Buy It Now' price of U$70 + 18 shipping seems a bit steep to me - even Mo$$ list a pump for the equivalent of $80. David "David Jacobs" 31863... MORE
