Good lord this is a cold natured 8itchy car until she gets warm. I was finally able to take her to the mechanic today for the cracked slave cylinder boot. It's 30 degrees in Memphis, TN which doesn't make me happy because she has no top on. I bundle up, go out and crank her up. Hi, Can anyone tell me what the normal range of movement is for the clutch pedal on a '65 Midget MKII, and how stiff it should be? My clutch seems to work just fine, but I am surprised how short the range of motion is, and how stiff it is - it feels like its only going in about an inch, if that. As I said the car works, but the difference between in and out is so small that I find myself pushing hard to be sure I've got it in far enough in. If the pedal had... MORE

So has anyone heard of an MK Powered auto battery. They are a non-spillable lead acid gel battery, made in Anaheim, CA. These don't even have the purchase date and month popped out on them!! They have the top posts, with a hole through it for a bolt on connection, and round enough for a clamp as well. The dimensions are 9" wide x 5.5" deep x 8" tall. I have no idea what the cold cranking amps are, but they sure do spin up a Sprite engine well. And for $10 each, new, I HAD to buy two.... MORE

Bill, Just registered my car as an Antique in Illinois this past spring. Wasn't bothered at all and from asking around, the local gendarmes don't pay much attention. In Illinois there is also a proviso fot driving your car to get serviced which pretty much makes it worthless for any cop to stop you. With respect to correctly sized LCB.... for the stock and/or short cammed engine (with largest Mickey D's in one hand and Vizard's book in the other) in a word NO, not in and of itself with respect to the stock engine, or even as part of a free flow system, unless you are cruising the highways at 70+ most of the time. For a trifle more power... If anything, this man should get an award for comedy, literacy, and intelligence. Some days that is how I feel a bout the 76 Midget that I have, albeit it is in much better condition than that Jensen. But when one can get only 4 uses out of an ignition switch (NEW) and it breaks the same way the original did that was 27 years old, one feels a bit like selling the thing and being done with it. I should ask the guys at work, but I'm on holiday 'til the 5th Jan. so I'll ask you guys. Because of the action of the rods and pistons, doesn't the sump / crankcase, suck as well as blow? I know two strokes use this phenomena to suck in petroil / air mixture then transfer it by blowing it to the head ready for combustion. Believe it or not, Alan... We have legislators (I think a couple in CA tried this?) who, if they could, would pass laws forcing a retrofit of emissions equipment on pre-emission engines (< '68). Samuel, IMO the time to do your head is when it's wet and cold , can be done indoor s , try the using kitchen !!!!!!!. Then refit it before the sun comes out so you can be driving. I'm assuming you will be grinding in the valves , I didn't realise the old engines were fitted with valve stem seals, I thought that was a more modern innovation. Samuel, The roads down South East are busy and full of morons. However up in Yorksh ire you will find there are lots of empty roads just great for spridget dri ving. Same for the rest of the country really , cities like Birmingham and Manchester and the immediate hinterland are busy , but that's the same in t he 'States. Same for our Motorways your Interstates / turnpikes. Samuel Only you can really answer this question as you're the one with all the information. Are you moving here permanently or temporarily? And if the latter for how long? Is this is financial decision or an emotional one? Do you have anywhere you can store your car in the US while you're here?
