I remember seeing something in one of my books about this bonnet (hood) but I can't for the life of me find it now. I think it may be in the Chris =3D=0D Harvey book on Sprites and Midgets which I've lent to someone. Actually that 'someone' was a sprite racing driver in the 60's who happens =3D=0D to be the last owner of a special coup=E9 Sprite featured in that book and in Mo=3D=0D re Healey's - Frogeye Sprites and Midgets by Donald Healey, number plate 1411 =3D=0D WD an ex-Stirling Moss works car! $1000.00 takes this car home. Forced to sell, getting married and need the cash, bonnet alone is worth $1200.00 andI have put more then that just into restoring the bonnet. It is one of three known Thomas Denner Bonnets left in the world. The car is RHD with a new rack, and tie rods imported from the UK, most parts to finish it needs paint and body for the rear half and there is no motor or trans. I also have custom made glass side curtians. Photos are uploaded to this sites photos section. Southern California 909-947-8099 Mike "Michael"... MORE

Kevin, 1500 run pretty clean ususally. I got a '75 to pass in California without a working (gutted( air pump and blocked air injection lines. I would think the EGR valve is essential though. Make sure the carb is properly tuned at that you choke is complete off with the car warmed up. I would run the carb as lean as possible and do a fresh oil change before having it tested. I don;t have a lot of experience with SMOG cars, so maybe someone else has somethig to ad. Gerard "gerardchateau" 24721... MORE

Hello all, I just took my 77 through emissions testing and it came up short. It passed the Hydro Carbon & Carbon Monoxide tests with ease but was just over the Nitrus Oxides limit. The car is missing it's EGR system. Are there any tweaks to the carburation/timing that might improve it's chances? Thanks! Kevin Milwaukee, WI "kari_kevin" 24719... MORE

Hello all, I just tried to get my 77 though emissions and came up short. It passed the Carbon Monoxide & Hydrocarbon portion with flying colors but was just over the limits for Nitrus Oxides. My car is missing the EGR system & I know that would help. Short of replacing the missing valve, etc. are there any "tweaks" to the carburation/timing that could help it pass? Thanks! Guys... Muhahmed Abacha (no doubt a cousin of our old "Nigerian George" of used car buying fame) is looking for someone to help him out with getting his hands on the 88 million dollars which somehow managed to get left behind in the old country, after they let him out of prison and he had to leave Nigeria rather rapidly I guess, less his suitcase. Anyway, if anyone is interested in helping out MA, I'll send you a copy of his email, the original of which is on it's way to appropriate internet authorities, who I am sure will... MORE

With few exceptions, all the parts sippliers buy from the same sources and sell the same parts...but from whoever is cheapest. I've also used Motorhead and Seven Enterprises. Motorhead will gladly provide tech advise if you buy something once in a while, and they're very knowledgable. Seven sometimes has the best prices, but doesn't stock everything. A couple of the parts guys in Oregon (forget their names for the moment) usually have the best prices, but they also don't stock everything. "Jeffrey Holmes" 24513... MORE

Indeed so . . . California live oaks grow rapidly, this one has doubled in the past ten years and now is about 50 feet across. I have little choice but to be a shade tree mechanic as there are two more on the lot, 45' x 150'. Good thing the house is tiny. They drop leaves year around and now acorns shells come raining down as the squirrels toss them totally unconcerned for my safety. The trees mock me as they are a "protected species" and know I can do nothing except thin the branches and cut off... MORE

Good Question, but before any one of the many experts can respond you both must agree on what is your objective. Get running and enjoy. Rebuild, show and drive. Other. Why was the engine pulled? Did the car run or was their a problem? While the engine is out, and I assume the Trans.; Take and inventory to see what is there and what's not. Inspect the Trans. gears and see if all turns O.K. Inspect the braking system. Remove the interior stuff including the seats to inspect cockpit. From there it depends on what you two decide you... MORE

Hello all, I'm looking for information on how the emissions controls are configured on a 77. Specifically how the Air pump & EGR valve are setup. Right now on mine the air pump feeds though a check valve directly to a connector on the tail end of the exhaust manifold. Did that year have a diverter or gulp valve? The EGR valve is missing. Did it have one? How was it hooked up? There is an elbow connector on the air intake manifold that isn't hooked up to anything. I've been looking at pictures of engines on the web,... MORE

President Bush arrives at Heathrow Airport on a state visit. A 300-foot long red carpet stretches out to Air Force One and Mr. Bush strides to a warm but dignified hand shake from Queen Elizabeth II. They ride in a silver 1934 Bentley limousine to the edge of central London where they then board an open 17th century coach pulled by six magnificent white matching horses. They ride toward Buckingham Palace, each looking sideways and waving to the thousands of cheering Britons. So far everything is going well. Suddenly the right rear horse lets fly with the most horrendous,... MORE
