Once again faced with mystery PO modifications. These have to do with the emission controls. First, particularly on California cars, one must find a proper diagram of the system, something the weak of heart should not attempt from a Haynes Manual. The car in question is a 74 Midget I assume with a stock 1275 First discrepancy . . . The manual, if correct, shows a hose from the valve cover to one of three hose connections on top of the evaporation canister, check . . . that is there. Another hose goes to the gas tank vapor collection... MORE

Hi all: I have a really nice 1964 Beach F Vee Mk 5, serial number V-16 that is monoposto legal (fan, generator, new Dunlops with z-bar rear suspension) and with two races on a fresh motor that I would like to swap for a Spridget Vintage racer (anything from spec sprite on up to an H, G or F Prod car). I have been asking $5800 for the Beach, but would consider an offer in the mid to low $5K range or preferably a Spridget trade. If you have ever wanted to run an open wheel car here is... MORE

Early gearboxes on these cars have plain rather than needle bearings on first gear. If you want to keep things original then you can either get the box rebuilt for a few hundred $ (or do it yourself). Or with a few very minor and reversable mods you can fit a so called ribcase (for obvious reasons) box from the later Sprites and Midgets up to '74. Essentially the same box but with a stronger casing and better internals. If you are going to keep the power more or less std and only use it a few thousand miles... MORE

In the UK a company called Wood & Pickett do a kit for the Mini (the proper one not the BMW shouting thing) that might be adaptable. Moss in the UK sell it www.mossint.co.uk (I think) as do minispares www.minispares.com. And yes, I do! Good Evening All, You may think I'm crazy, but I was thinking about doing some slight modifications to my 74'Midget. And one of the things I had on my mind is power windows. Is this possible, is there enough room to put the motor in the door? Has anyone done this? I hope to get... MORE

Probably got lots of junk floating around in there...and I agree with the conversion. Curious why it just happens in first gear only though.
