Anyone know if stainless steel fuel tanks are still available for early Spridgets, mine is a MKIII Sprite 1966. I Know they were available a couple of years back but currently none of the usual suspects here in the UK seem to stick them. I think the Idea of a stainless tank is brilliant since there is mo possibility of corrosion crud building up on the inside and finding its way in to the carbs (ever) and no need to paint the outside. Hi Ed, You can find out who the moderators are by going to the group site and somewhere down the home page will be a list of the group email addresses, one of which is for the list owner. Alternatively, clicking the 'members' link, you should see three or four tabs, 'Moderators' being the second one. This gives you the yahoo id and another email link for each the individuals, (plural, because as you will see there are three moderators including me, but only one of whom is the actual list owner, Chris Nevard) Now, did you want the... I have a 1500 US Spec and had that same occurance a long time ago. I thought I had a vapor lock so I did the old shade tree trick. I walked over to the closest stop-n-rob (mini market which sells petrol for you guys on the other side of the pond) and got my self a bag of ice. I iced down the carbs and the ignition module. i noticed that was a bit hot as well. 15 minutes of that, it was ready to go. Well, 2 years later after driving her on a 90 mile round... MORE
Just a suggestion, but you may want to post where the car is located. This list reaches both sides of the pond. I am located in Pennsylvania, but if you are located in Grange-Over-Sands (Morecambe Bay area) fer'nstance, I would have a difficult time buying the thing. Or maybe I'm getting crochity! Rick, My V6 is a GM crate motor sold for replacement of the Chevy S10 2.8L V6. It is rated at 160 hp if the stock S10 2bbl intake and cast iron exhaust manifolds were bolted back on it. With my headers and Holley/Offy intake system, I would guess mines's up toward 190 or so, but I have no dyno data. This month I am planning to install a set of Crane roller rockers, so that sould push it up over 200hp. My traction sucks. The 185s I have don't hook up. The only time they did when I... MORE

Rick, On my Sprite, I run 2" pipes from my header collectors back to oval Flowmaster mufflers. They are pulled up hard against the floorboards with a quadruple layer of fiberglass/foli insulation. My floorboards do not get hot. The fuel and brake lines and the battery cable nearby are heavily insulated and I've had no problem with those either. Oh, and the exhaust sounds tolerably quiet at low loads and idle, but nasty when on it. My ground clearance is about 3" at the low spots on the collectors and mufflers. I have 24 ga. stainless steel skid skins... MORE

"It just might roll down the driveway" Geeze....BFD....like this is rocket science or something...yeh, right. It didn't roll yesterday when I set the "rollers" on my 1.5 set-up and hasn't in 42 years so I sorta doubt it, most especially since parking brakes and wheel chocks were "invented". Unless you got a clutch fan, do it my way and you won't need a chock anyway. Just leave it in neutr al and set the parking brake....OK!! If it makes you feel better, put a chock(s) under a wheel....or dead cat(s)! Now, take the damn plugs out so the engine... MORE

Ginny, 40 year motorcycle man here.... over 200K miles on bikes. Depending upon the bike, your windshield can be either Lexan of Plexi. If it is the cheaper Plexi it will become cloudy (a white-ish haze) and eventually it will begin to show stress fractures. Lexan doesn't do that. Sounds like you have Plexi in which case, there is nothing you can do about the cloudiness because it is inside the Plexi and won't polish out. Strong sunshine is the culprit. Novus and the other plasitic polishes work fine to a point. You will need to know if there... MORE
Next Wednesday, the B17 and B24 that fly out of Connecticut will land about 2 miles from my house at War Eagles Air Museum, Santa Teresa Airport. For $400 bucks I can get a 30 minute ride on either plane. Anybody done this? Worth it? The 30 minutes is start up to stop, and after gaining altitude and leveling out, passengers are allowed to move about the plane to sample each manned point, with the exception of the pilots seat I assume. Since I am in the middle of trying to get both the TR4 and the Midget back... MORE

Anybody know anything about a Bear Series 2 engine analyzer?
