My Brother-in-law just bought a 72 Citroen DS 21, the gauges are Jaeger Electronique. . . . It like ridding on air sitting on overstuffed living room couches. It has a central hydraulic system that runs the suspension, transmission, power steering and brakes . . . an inch and a half round red warning indicator is in the center of one of the gauges labeled "STOP", needless to say it is the hydraulic failure indicator. G'day Alan et al Can't help with the combustion chamber volume. The kerosine keeps running out those large holes where valves should be! The combustion volume depends on (amongst other things) how "proud" the valves sit off the seats. And since the head has no valves, and I have no new valves to try in it, and since I don't feel like buying two new valves - I can't answer your question! But I do know I have machined over .100" off head faces before exposing the oil feed line. With the higher comp pistons available, it's unlikely you... MORE

Hello, I have a refinished 850 head for a mini, however, it came on the 1098 engine in my bugeye. Confused,... me too. Seems that when I bought the car I didnt check out the head casting number to make sure that it was in fact a 1098 head. Compression was good, Nor did I check out the casting number before I had the head resurfaced, put in ALL new 1098 valves, springs and guides. Hi Graham Welcome to the list and to MG ownership. To be honest, I found the Owners club a bit of a rip off, but thats just my opinion. Roche Bentley seems to have built a massive empire there, and it's way too commercial for my liking - I always thought Owners Clubs were meant to get the best deals for their members and work on their members behalf, not try and fleece them every moment they get, which is how I feel MGOC behave. Good Morning or afternoon, I have a perplexing problem and have come to the fountain of knowledge for help. I purchased a new ignition swithch for my 63 Sprite. The old one has three spades coming out of the back. the new one has 4. On the old one, 2 white wires are soldered together and are attached to the last spade on the right as you view it from behind the dash. The middle spade also has a single white wire on it and the last one has the brown and blue wire attached. What do I do... MORE
Bob I don't know of any, and I think you're unlikely to find any. Having said that, it can be done. There was a company in England making Frogeye bodyshells from new heritage bodyshells, so it is possible. I've considered using rivets & high strength automotive epoxy for body repair but have been told there's no substitute for welding. Now Jaguar is doing just that with the new aluminum XJ. Well, ladies and germs, I may be a little less visible on the lists than I have been in the past. I am leaving my present job (selling computer systems) and moving on to try new things. The economy has really hit our customers and they aren't buying systems. I was slowly going under so I decided to make a change. G'day Linda, Nigel et al My Austin Sprite is AAN10/87699G, body number 105002, engine 12CEDAH17223, built 2 June 1971. Midnight Blue. The most interesting thing about the car, however, is that it is a RWA - round wheel arch. According to all the texts, RWA cars were only ever badged as MG Midgets. But this car is definitely a Sprite (AAN10 prefix) and it has not been modified at the rear. All panels, welds, seams etc are original. Since the factory were building RWA shells in June 1971, it seems quite possible that one of them escaped with Sprite... MORE

SUV's aside, our oil consumption alone for commercial transportation, including our airline (both public and corporate) for one day is unreal, relatively speaking, So, relatively speaking we get low, low prices accordingly. If the average joe is already paying a 48% tax rate, then funding isn't the problem. How we are spending what we have IS. Tax or no tax, our government would find OTHER ways to spend it.
