I checked and have found the relevant mounting points. The wheel well attachment consisted of two studs with chrome dome nuts. Can anyone suggest a US source for the proper 3-point belts? I don't believe that they would have been retractable. Thanks, Herman "hermanfarrer" 22891... MORE
I've just purchased a '66 Sprite. I need to install seat belts and would like to know whether all of the mounting points for a 3-point system are already in place or whether modifications need to be made. Hi, The bulb for the flasher unit, according to my Brown & Gammons catalogue covering Midget 1275 & 1500 and Sprite Mk 4 is part no. 57H382, but I'm sure that any bulb of the right rating with the same fixing method would suffice. As for the green cover on the dash, I can't find it in any of the catalogues or manuals I have. Perhaps you could use a piece of green perspex and glue it in place? Good Morning Spridget Land, The right turn signal lamp on my 74's dashboard is burn out and the lens with the little arrow symbol is missing. Darn if I can find a replacement lamp or the little lens cover in any of my catalogues. It would seem like a minor thing but not having a flashing indicator when I am making a right turn is an annoyance and an obsession. Anyone have one or know a source? Its not like you can hear a the flasher unit when doing sixty on the freeway with 16 wheelers on both sides... MORE

Yes...but..the job is done correctly and it's a "one off" deal....and the seats are securely buttoned down (as they should be) which means YOU are securely buttoned down assuming you use your seat belt. See....your flying out of the car at the speed of light on a tight turn (I mean, all the screaming, swearing and everything) is going to attract a lot of the "wrong" kind of attention...could give LBC's a bad name....not good...:):) Cap'n. Vicky British sells carpeting that fits very well. Did my whole interior with their kit and am pleased with the results. Saves a lot of aggravation for those who are not trained in carpet installation and you can just buy the carpet not the whole interior. Rob C 75 Midget robbiesg@... 22843... MORE
We can get in the UK a product called 'wash and get off' spray. Most pet shops sell it. It neutralises the odour rather than just cover it up and leaves something to discourage them. I wouldn't. All that will be holding the seats would be the little metal on the threads where they go through the sheet metal. You may not have room for a washer but at least put a not on the ends of the bolts to give you a little more surface area. Bob, Troutdale, OR "Robert Webb" 22838... MORE
I'm going to have to drill holes in the floor pan. No way around it because I'm putting in bigger seats. Anyway, can I use self-tapping metal screws to mount the runners for the seats? Hi, Don... Well, I have to admit I am doing most of this from memory of what I had on my po'd '74.....this was like 20+ years ago!! Naturally, when I looked at all that stuff cluttering up the engine compartment, I barfed! Then I took it all off, cut the restrictors on the carbs, got a ventilated/ filtered oil filler cap and set up a "ventilated" rather than "evacuated" system. But as Gerard and many others have correctly pointed out, a properly working PCV system is a "good thing" in more than one respect. Yes...the engine breathes in... MORE
Morning Bob, So the collected fumes in the charcoal canister are fed back into the system via the hose to the head cover. It appears there is no collection ports from the fuel bowls on the carburetors. So that would explain their being no hose from them to the canister. That leaves why the PO felt an additional restrictor was necessary, or desirable, in the oil separator to carburetors hose. It was my understanding that as you say "The input fittings within the carbs are in themselves graduated orifices." Think I will take the additional restrictor he inserted out... MORE
Hi, Don May... 1. The missing hose from the carb. to the charcoal cannister MAY be for the fuel bowls with respect to an "anti- runon" valve feature. This is a guess on my part. What this did was create a vacuum at the fuel bowls when oil pressure fell to zero through a solenoid switch when the ignition was switched off. The fuel bowls were vented to the charcoal cannister as part of the closed loop fuel system. The solenoid switch was wired "hot" which is why the PO MAY have disconnected this. 2. Once again faced with mystery PO modifications. These have to do with the emission controls. First, particularly on California cars, one must find a proper diagram of the system, something the weak of heart should not attempt from a Haynes Manual. The car in question is a 74 Midget I assume with a stock 1275 First discrepancy . . . The manual, if correct, shows a hose from the valve cover to one of three hose connections on top of the evaporation canister, check . . . that is there. Hello out there in Midget land, Been following the discussion on Weber carbs and thought I would get advice on a carb switch I am planning. I have a 75 with a stock 78 motor (the original was toast after 7 years of sitting under a tarp) and am thinking of trading the Zenith for the twin SU setup. Seems like a no brainer as it's nearly twice the air flow of the Zenith ace and was standard in the UK for my year. Would appreciate the thoughts and experiences of any Midget listers on this plan. Having installed power windows in multiple LBC's I can tell you there is only one type of power mechanism out there that will fit the door. And that IS NOT INSIDE the door. It's a power 'pod' that attaches on the door panel and drives the original crank handle. "ptegler@cablespeed" 22712... MORE

Origainal to the 1275.. it handles a lot better for one thing!, the loss in road holding is not really down to the weight of the bumpers, but more down to the raised ride height forced on the car by american leglation about the heiaght of he headlights IIRC. although they are damned heavy as anyone who has lifted a pair of ruber bumpers will testify! One other reason is that the front wings I have for it are in fact 1275 items, adn these look very odd as not only are they diferent round the indicator mountings but... MORE
