In trouble I have a pressing need for an oversize top ring for a +.040 over piston. This would be for a quick fix for a screwed up top groove in one of my pistons. The engine needs to get new pistons as soon as I can decide which way to go. .060 over or sleeves. But I have an event commimg up so I'de like to reg this one up for it. Looking for a set of +.040 top rings that are about .066" thick X .121" deep. I'm told that thicker rings were a commen fix years... MORE

Are the head rests uspposed to completly come off my 76 Midget? I have been pulling at them but they don't seem to want to come off. Are they supposed to? is there a button or catch to press? Hi, I am a new MG owner and know NOTHING about them. Mine does not run... Was told it ran great last fall, but it had an over heating problem. Engine cranks, but has no spark at the coil. When testiong for power at the positive side of coil it shows none... so I ran a hot wire from the battery to the coil and it started... but only ran less than a minute and it stalled... tried to restart and it had no spark... I disconnected the power wire... rehooked and it started again for a few seconds.... MORE

HELPHOS (dymo label on dashboard) Apparantlly it was a powerfull spotlamp that fixed to the inside of your windscreen , used by the works rally teams in the 50's and 60's for night road rallying. You guys are all off the map on cool air induction. What works for me is crushed ice in a glass and enough vodka to float the ice. Open the bonnet and place a Manhattan glass each of the vodka ice mixture on each carb. Wait 5 minutes, remove the glasses from the carb, close the bonnet and start the engine. Hear that? It runs great. Drink the contents of the two glasses and go back in the house. You're too drunk to drive. Mark, Yup, that is pretty much the way they are. Think of first as only to get you rolling then go to second. First is always noisier but the popping out is a sign it's got wear. Also never sit with your foot on the clutch at a light or such as it doesn't have a real throwout bearing and it will wear out fast. Just use the clutch to put it in gear and get moving. Well for what it's worth 32 years ago I flipped a 62 sprite by running off the road skidding sideways. Front wheels were in the ditch rear wheels were up in a yard ended up hitting a rock on the passenger side rocker panel which in turn put as airborne and we ended up in the middle of the road upside down. No roll bar I was sore without a scratch my friend ended up with seven stitches to the back of his head from the support bar for the top. I personally think in this case a roll... MORE

I tried lacquer thinner but it barely effects the finish. The remaining paint looks very clean now and there are a number of small areas where it has come off but at the rate the removal is progressing it will take more than an afternoon for each bumper. "Nelson Wittstock" 37380... MORE
Lacquer thinner will remove most alminum paints and won't damage chrome, but be warned - the chrome plating on the back side of the bumper will be very thin, and will rust quickly, and that's probably why the aluminum paint is there in the first place. "joe blxfstz" 37379... MORE
The back side of my Sprite's bumpers have been painted with aluminum paint which I would like to remove. The paint remover which I have on hand (POR Strip)says to not use it on chrome. I've been meaning to post this FWIW, but have forgotten for a few months. My Sprite began a random misfire. Checked all the usual culprits, but couldn't find the problem. I didn't suspect the spark plugs because they were only a few thousand miles old, and they looked perfect - light brown insulators, no visible cracks or tracking. Since nothing else worked, I decided to try new plugs. Advance Auto Parts had Bosch Platinum for $1.79 ea, so I put in a set. Problem solved. "joe blxfstz" 37364... MORE
1965 Austin-Healey Sprite MK3 The car was restored and put on the road in August of 04, it is rust free and solid. I have made many upgrades and changes. Some of the bigger changes are a Datsun 210 5spd transmission, an 1100cc engine. It has a new shiny black paint job with a new sexy red interior. Includes a few spare parts.
