Thanks David, I will look out for the different location of the joint. I have tried altering the "set" of the hose, but it then puts undue stress on it when on the opposite lock. They changed the location of the solid-to-flexible joint on later cars so this was less likely to occur, so if you get chance, you might compare the two types and replicate the later one. Alternatively, slacken off the hose nut and twist one end slightly so that it takes up a different 'set' and doesn't contact the tyre on full lock. So what is the preferred solution to tyres that rub on the flexible brake hoses on full lock? I have steel braided hoses so they are not getting damaged, but I don't like the idea of the "snatching and tugging" that must be taking place when this happens. I wondered if I could rig up a lightweigt spring (like a throttle spring) to pull the hose back clear of the tyre. Anyone had this problem and sorted it? Guy "Guy Weller" 24967... MORE
are you sure it's the frame it's rubbing? (i.e. is it visible rubbing there, or just audible?) It's not uncommon for a wheel to rub on a flexible brake hose on full lock - check this out, as they can rub through with obvious potential disastrous results! They shouldn't contact anything solid though - there is a lock-stop built into the king-pin which the stub axle contacts before anything else, unless you have ultra wide wheels! Can those of you who are running front tube shocks let me know which ones (manufacturer and part#) you're running? I'm looking for a set for my 62 Sprite (I already have the conversion hardware) and I'd like to get a feel for what other people are running. Anyone running the Carreras shocks from Winners Circle? KYBs? I'm also running the 400 lb competition springs with an alternate engine. My engine, spring and tire combo sets my front frame height at approx 6 inches off the ground and the distance between the shock mounts at 12 inches. I measured... MORE

You certainly have a problem there. Either something has become bent or collapsed through corrosion. Another thing to look at is the top trunnion bushes although I'm not sure if this would give rise to enough movement to allow rubbing. "Jeremy Cogman" 24943... MORE

I'm pushing it back and forth and my neighbors must think I 've gone mad. Was at the hardware store and noticed Bondo UV sun activated body filler for the first time and being a curious animal had to try it. "Apply in shade only, must be in sun to activate" a good test for the level of the sun's UV rays it is. Whilst we are on about language.. Why Lugnuts? Wheelnuts seems so much clearer. Lugs are ears in the UK. Lugholes = earholes And Fenders are what you have around a fireplace to stop hot cinders rolling across the floor. Although, come to think of it, you have fenders on a boat. Well, Don.... "Your way" of putting together the panels and ADDING the top of the beading may just be a blessing is disguise with respect to avoiding future rust problems in those seams. I can't seem to adjust to the idea of not having traditional fender beading. The problem is because of previous fender damage and damaged, bent and missing areas of beading I separated the fenders from the top to repair them and then MIG tack welded them back together along the top seam down in the v grove where the tack welds are easily covered with bondo without installing beading because it is easy to tack weld the seams on top then underneath grind small v shape groves in the sandwiched edges and tack weld there too. In album labeled Stoneleigh. The car has an all steel bonnet, disk brakes and was very clean and tidy through out. I believe it still has skinny crossply tyres on solid wheels. The car is owned by a Midgetsprite club member - see the central disk on the windscreen . its really very easy,..at least it was for me!..i passed on the expensive moss pre-made channel and took don mays as always brilliant advice and used 3-m (i belive) 3/4' inch window channel "felt" (is this right don?) i picked up at the local hardware.. i used my mercedes convertible top tool (but any soft edge tool..or even a butter knife will do) to push it in the channels,..then pop the windows back in,..that can be a bit tricky,.i was afraid of cracking the side curtains,..but they went in with a litttle fiddling. i then used a little silicone/or... $1000.00 takes this car home. Forced to sell, getting married and need the cash, bonnet alone is worth $1200.00 andI have put more then that just into restoring the bonnet. It is one of three known Thomas Denner Bonnets left in the world. The car is RHD with a new rack, and tie rods imported from the UK, most parts to finish it needs paint and body for the rear half and there is no motor or trans. For a while it was fashionable to have the horn on the end of the indicator stalk. I can't remember what age your car is so I am not sure whether this is applicable in your case, but a po might have fitted the later type of indicator stalk retrospectively, even if it is an earlier car. I think ther may be some confusion about the oversized valves.If the guides are worn you can install a valve that has a larger diameter shaft.If you want more flow you have to rework the head and install valves with larger diameter valve area[the big round top part].Hope this helps "stanley hill" 24715... Hi afminc13, It can be done but not easily. In my opinion, not a good swap even if it was easy. The reverse is much more easily accomplished (A-series into a later RB car). Motor mounts are different and the frame crossmember where the steering rack mounts needs to be cut and reinforced differently to accomodate the crank pulley. I recall there is a drivers side footwell modification that needs to be done and maybe even the passenger side. If you want to go to that much trouble, I think there are better options, such as a rotary swap.... MORE
