Brad, I do the same thing with possums. They are so butt ugly..like ugly large rats. I usually trap them and re locate. Actually, it is a real challenge because I use the same technique they used in cartoons when I was a little kid. I take a cardboard box, put a rock on the top for weight, take a pencil and prop it up, put some cat food in the back and tie some black thread to the pencil bottom and stretch it across the rear of the box so he trips it at the food. Frequently, people jack and adjust the alignment to the doors fit perfectly, then carefully weld a piece of pipe or angle iron from the front of the door opening to the rear, just tack it in, on both sides and then form an "X" from the front of one door opening to the rear of the other door opening and visa versa. Would not hurt to tack these two pieces together where the "X" crosses also. Then before doing anything else, re measure and or fit the doors in place to double check a perfect fit. With out the... I was a member over a year ago and had to drop out. Well I'm back and this time I need to seel my 1973 Midget. If anyone is close to Las Vegas and wants it, it's going cheap at $750. It has sagged more with the sills off but there was some sagging before i removed the old sills. The doors were not lining up properly when i got the car. I have done a combination of jacking the car under the floor and jacking up the top of the bulkhead to get the alignment correct. This is no easy feat as it required a lot of patience to get it right! FWIW, Had my flywheel lightened by a local mechanic who specializes in imports and is very familiar with British makes. For all you 1500 spridgeteers our there my guy only took out about 1 lb. of material. Told me the flywheel is pretty light as it is and any more might be counter-productive. So 1500 guys we either have better Triumph technology in our motors OR we've been screwed again. I personally like the better technology option. Hi All, As i slowly rebuild my 76 Midget, i have come across a slight dilema. I am about to put the Outer sill on to the car but when i line it up and clamp it in place the top of the outer and inner sills meet up perfectly but at the bottom the sills are apart by about 2 cm (3/4" in old money). It just does not seem right. Should they meet up at the bottom? When i removed the sill there was not this gap. I am unsure whether the previous owner had the sill... MORE
Adam, Bumpers and attachements add about 150-170 lbs. to the extreme ends of the car. In addition, ride height was raised about an inch in '75 with taller springs. As you may imagine dropping the weight and changing the ride height back could make a noticeable difference. RBH, You are a master of explanations as well as BE crazy. My rubber bumper car was converted to disc wheels and no bumpers at all. The rear end IS the tricky part. I considered two approaches:1) Have a body shop do it or 2)take a mold of my buddy's RWA section under the tail lights and make up a fiberglass piece to replace the flattened area. Use the folded over metal in the flat area to secure the new pieces and bondo 'em in. There isn't as much material removed on the rubber bumper cars as it appears... MORE

a friend of mine altered the rear by carving blocks of hardwood to the correct shape, screwing them in place below the rear lights and filling with bondo - looked fine for about ten years, till the filler started cracking. David 35868... MORE

The front end is the easy part, it's the back end that's hard to do properly, as it involves cutting the rear panel out. I have seen a few that have been half done and the back of the car looks awful, would look better with the rubber bumpers still on. I have run 195/60X13 TA's on my '73 Midget on 5.5 rims. Very slight rub in the front with the steering at full lock. I currently have 205/60X13 (not Goodrich) on with a rub in the back over biger bumps and more rubbing in front with full lock steering. I have a new set of 195/60 TA's ready to back on soon.
