I have a 60 Sprite and the side curtains to prove it! My question is, is there anyone or anyplace that re-conditions them. The pair I have is aftermarket. The frames are aluminum and the sliding windows are plexiglass. The windows need to be replaced and the weatherseal that fits against the door needs replacing as well. Can you stop shouting! (turn your caps lock off) Yes there are minis with twin SU carbs, but they are Mini Coopers (real mini coopers not the overgrown lump of lard built by BMW). There other cars with twin SU's on A-Series engines , but by far the most common are spridgets. The correct brass top carbs that a frogeye would have however are frogeye only IIRC and very hard to source. IIRC the 1300GT, Riley elf, Riley kestrel, Mini Cooper, AH sprite and MG midget were the only BMC cars to have the twin SU's on an a-series... MORE

I just finished putting the tranny and engine together, and will be putting it into the car presently. I know many times that a common electrical problem is the ground strap from the engine to the body. I have not had that problem, but then I still have the original bracket that bolts at the bottom of the tranny bell housing and fixes to the "frame" rail. Hi all, my name is Julian from Uk (Nottingham) and I am a newcomer to the site so p lease treat me gently. I have purchased an absolutely beautiful (I would say that wouldn't I) 1967 MG Midget in Red, wire wheels, chrome bumpers, leather trim with white pip ing...mmmmm Anyway. I have a little problem in that after a long run with no junctions I often have to sit in traffic queues to get into the centre of the City. Well, could be an old or weak fuel pump, lack of a heat shield between carbs and engine (it gets hot under there when not moving at speed) causing fuel to percolate or "vapour lock", or lack of a vented fuel cap (though the latter is usually a case of fuel starvation which shows up under load..as in climbing a long hill with the foot well down). So, number one, check for the heat shield (basically a metal plate upon which the throttle return springs are mounted in the stock set-up). If it's "there"....go to... ...number two; at... MORE

Hi, Ginger... The Castrol LMA GT is basically clear... with just a hint of yellow. Fill the reservoir to the bottom of the filler neck. Check it in a week and top off, again, if needed. That should about do it....then check the level at least once a month, once every two weeks is even better or anytime you're underneath there checking the oil level. Cap'n. Best way is again by bracket, rather than drilling the bumper. Drilling the bumper can lead to corrosion problems .. bubbling of the chrome etc. R "Roger Stinson" 25987... MORE
I rang Moss and they don't do brackets. Does anyone know where else I may get them? I am not keen on drilling the bumper, but will if I have to. If anyone wants to mail me pictures of their spotlights on Midgets or Sprites, please do so on maxallen @ ntlworld.com . I have SEEN the brackets so I know they exist. G'day Linda, Nigel et al My Austin Sprite is AAN10/87699G, body number 105002, engine 12CEDAH17223, built 2 June 1971. Midnight Blue. The most interesting thing about the car, however, is that it is a RWA - round wheel arch. According to all the texts, RWA cars were only ever badged as MG Midgets. But this car is definitely a Sprite (AAN10 prefix) and it has not been modified at the rear. All panels, welds, seams etc are original. Since the factory were building RWA shells in June 1971, it seems quite possible that one of them escaped with Sprite... MORE
Max Try Moss, I'm sure I've seen lamp brackets not on a badge bar. Personally I'd go for the period lamps they do, more in keeping with the character of the car. Regarding wiring, I'd put in a relay circuit, the lamps would draw too much current for the main lamp circuit, particularly considering old/condition unknown wiring these cars tend to have. Please Help, Firstly where can I buy the brackets for the lamps to be mounted on? I imagine that they connect to the bumper brackets? MGOC say they don't do them. Secondly are WIPAC lamps ok, or are there others I should consider. Finally, what is the best way to wire them up? A separate circuit and switch.... or into the main lamp system? Hello Group, Due to near arrival of Child number 2, sadly, I have to dispose of some non-core assets (can't eat it or wear it!). I have a 68 Midget in Old English White. 3 owners and 33,000 miles from new (genuine). Bodywork restored to a very high standard. The solid sound of the door shutting is like no other. The downside is that I think I broke one of the piston rings when building the engine. Also very small area of paint damage on top of o/s wing due to overcrowded garage. I've no time to fix it... Brad Yes I also noticed this 'material' which us 'out of US listers' would call =3D=0D 'Hessian' : ) There was a sheet on top of the rubber diaphragm, as well as some under it =3D=0D on my seats. David I agree 100% The 'webbing' type replacements look very poorly made, and I'm reluctant to even try them on my fresh bare metal resprayed seat frame.
