Chris Thank's for your input. Yes, I can imagine 1/4" steel pipe is a pain to bend, the 3/16" cupro/nickel was bad enough! I trace the route of the pipe with some string, including all the bends and then add about 6 inches, and cut that length, I still usually have to trim that back to fit, so no problems on lengths. Thanks for the tip on the autojumbles, but its not really an option - I simply don't have the time to trawl around atuojumbles right now - I just want to get on and get the car... MORE

Loopy Chris says .Not quite sure if I can get the ariel lead underneath the car as I think( could be totally wrong though and I've got the wrong end of the stick!) to be legal in this country, it has to be a certain distance ( im talking a fair space here , not a couple of inches) from any fuel tank or line , in case it causes a spark or something. Chris Have you seen the price of those steel radio consoles? I can't recall exactly how much Moss were asking - but it was in the region of 60 odd quid! They do, do a cheaper fibreglass one, but in my opinon they're a bit naff. These are the later type consoles by the way that were standard fitment to 1500 Midgets. The 'optional' console for the earlier Midgets (like yours) are slightly different and not easy to find, I have seen them second hand, but they are pricey. Hi Guys, Been watching this site for some time. Many of you seem to be quite the expert on midgets. I have just tuned my 68 midget, runs great around town but on a steep uphill climb, experience a loss of power and engine runs rough for about a minute before I can continue. If there is still more hill it will bogg down and repeat until reach the top. Could this have something to do with the SU carbs? Obviously, I am a novice at this but am willing to learn. Rick Grats on your new acquisition, don't take any notice of some of the list 'snobs' there's nothing at all wrong with a 1500 - they're great little cars (apart from the Triumph engine which is a dog) And good luck with it ....not saying any more on that ;) Braided cable - not sure - could be a ground, could be the handbrake cable? Listers - (sounds like something you call people after a night on a booze cruise) I finally got my car home, created a folder in the photo section ("Ricks 75") and uploaded a photo... Figured out what caused the PO from finishing the restoration, he had snapped 2 bolts off while removing the passenger side front shock for some reason, soaking in WD40 for a couple of days and small amount of heat and the stubs came right out. Jim, I have a '59 that was old English White WT.3, with Cherry Red interior. Now Competition Yellow with Black interior. I can send you a piece of the orig. Cherry Red interior that you can match to the Moss seat kits if you wish. The Cherry Red exterior was RD.4 and came with the Cherry Red seats with White piping. The door seals and mats were also Cherry Red according to my " BMC Body Exterior and Main Trim Colour Combinations." Sounds like the start of a bad perverted e-mail. What a strange day this is... Saw a tubbed out S10 running around the streets. Been out driving at night with the new speedo/rev counter lights. Speedo good using original lamp holder with 2.2w bulb in the 12 o/clock hole previously covered with a plastic cap and a 5w bulb in a ford cortina MK 2 side light holder in the 4 o/clock position. Be even better if it were not for the sky blue colour introduced by the inside of the housing being painted this colour. Rev counter better using a 5w bulb in a ford cortina MK 2 side light holder instead of the original but still dark in the 4000 region... MORE

I'm sitting in my recliner chair staring out the window when I hear a familiar sound . . . driving past the house is a bugeye sprite, same yellow color as my 73 .. .. ahhhhhhh by the time I got up and went out he was too far down the street to wave down. Only the second bugeye sprite I have see in Berkeley in the last 15 years . . . I hate that, missing the opportunity to meet someone local with a bugeye. One of my earlier cars was a 1932 Rolls Royce with Mulliner coachwork At the back was a Boot with a lid that could be opened . Fastened to the outside of the boot was a large fold down luggage rack. On the luggage rack was a- - - TRUNK! So this archetypal British car had a Boot and a Trunk! It also had wings, running boards,quarter lights, dumbells,a bonnet and trafficators. A "clip" is a common term in auto salvage yards...breakers to the Brits, and wreckin' yards in Texas. A front clip would be the front fenders, hood, (wings, bonnet) and grille bumpers, lights etc, to replace a whole front end damaged in an accident. A rear clip would be the rear fenders, deck lid (wings, boot) and connecting bits with the bumpers and lights to fix a vehicle that had been rear ended.
