I purchased from Moss2 adaptor #235-875. In taking off the old canister, I found the adapter sits real close to the generator. the old canistor mounted on a small mount that in turn attaches to the engine block. the sole purpose of this appears to be to raise the oem canistor oil filter high enough to clear the frame that runs below that side of the engine. if I remove the threaded studs that this mount attaches to the engine block, can I mount the adaptor directly to the engine block with the supplied allen head studs? Hi all I have tried bolting a clip onto a bit of steel first and fitting the trim strip before I pop rivit the clips to the car. This is the strip on the sill and there are 7 clips per side all the same. The returns on the trim are equal so there is no up or down. The only way I can see this working is to insert the trim into the angled part of the clip and push up (or down) hard, push the top of the trim over the rounded part of the clip (in... MORE
Heh, heh... The "blonde advantage" is, like most things, a two edged sword. While it may ver well get your foot in the door (with some men, not me) like a college degree, it's no guarantee when it comes to staying power over the long run. Thus, it is not really the advantage it would "appear" to be at first glance. G'day Terry I think Trevor could be on to the problem. It sounds like you are fitting the clips upside down. There is no way the two "ears" should hit the bodywork - they will face out from the body at about 45 degrees. The flat side of the clip should be flush with the body. If you are fitting them upside down, a small washer will not help - the trim will be loose after it is fitted. And I certainly would not suggest sliding the trim on - you are guaranteed to scatch the paint. The scratch... MORE

Well, Chuck... This is a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional, multi-interest normal human being bugeye group!!! Sorta. :) The tilt-front bonnet will tend to go too far forward. A simple fabricated cable/ bungee cord system within the engine compartment fastened to the inside of the bonnet in appropirate places will prevent going too far forward "over-center". But wont the wings hit when the hood is opened. I am doing a lot of body work and then going to paint and don't want any damage. Do I have to remove the brace from the hood to fender and pull the fender out when opening? Chuck: Many years ago (about 1967 I think) I had a bugeye and wanted a forward tilting front end. I simply removed the hinges and swaung the unit up and forward on the latching bar that engages the holes in the frame. I think I had to remove the front bumper. I didn't use any latch downs for the unt. The weight held it in place. Probably not acceptable in these lawyer happy days but did just fine in the good old days! I can understand using it for the engine bay, but there aren't that many parts of the interior where the paint is exposed. However, spraying the interior cockpit will give you some practice using the paint before doing the engine bay etc. I'm assuming that this is not the first time you've refurbished/restored a car? Yesterday cleaned the baby sh** yellow panels in the 73 and used black Rust Oleum Vinyl spray on them. Never used vinyl spray before . . . but they look great! The seats are next, but I have to work up the energy to clean the durn things first, and repair a couple of splits on the driver's seat. Don "Don May" 29507... MORE
Having now extracted the engine from the car I have found its Engine number, whihc is FP4615F, I think this is a proper midget engine. But its defieantly a pinky metalic red. Dad says that this colour indicates a factory recon unit, I thought these were Gold, but aparently that's austin engines, truimph painted thier recon motors a pinky metalic red.I might re-paint it black Stewart "Ford Prefect" 29472... Terry I'm about to do exactly this on mine. I think the 'bent up' ears are meant to be uppermost and the tucked in ones at the bottom - at least thats how I'm going to do it. Have you tried 'sliding' the strip on rather than 'clipping' it over the clips? There are two 'gaps' on the underneath of the sill strip, that would allow you to slide it over the clips. I am still struggling with the clips that hold the chrome strips on the sill of my 1972 RWA midget. Now on my 5th lot. Can any one help? The clips have a rounded edge and a bent up one. The bent up one has two ears folded down. I think you fit them with the rounded edge uppermost. Then the bottom lip of the trim goes under the bent up edge and you force the upper lip over the rounded edge so it springs over it. BUT when I put the clip on the sill the ears on... MORE
Mike Ahh you mean the British Leyland wing badge, sorry my mistake. Can't help you here as I need to know that myself actually! He suggests the trash can, because 'purists' don't like the changes British Leyland wrought on the Spridgets when they took them over, so the less to remind them of British Leyland the better! They are light blue rectangular that go above the sill and what looks to be about 2 inches from the front wheel wells on both sides. "Mike" 29458... MORE
Nigel, I had exactly the same problem with the bumper mount and I still have not decided weather to make or buy new tubes as I have no seen them in Moss etc . Can you tell me if you made them or where you got them please. There's been very few nuts/bolts/screws I havent been able to remove using =3D=0D heat and brute strength, but I guess heat is not really an option on the windscreen frame - further fuelling my concern. Paul It's not the 'putting back together' bit that concerns me, it's the 'taking =3D=0D apart' bit. Knowing my car (and my luck) the screws holding the frame together will be =3D=0D seized solid - getting them out succesfully is walking a tightrope between =3D=0D success and scrapping the windscreen frame. I replaced my own windshield....successfully. Tried to get someone local to do it, and none of the glass places would touch the job. With a little planning, it really is an "at home" job. My brother and I did it while watching the Browns lose (again). First, order all new screws....you'll need them. Have some sharp drill bits and easy outs....you'll need them. After you get the old frame apart, spend some quality time polishing it....it'll need it. Put a new seal around the new glass and lightly soap the exterior edge of the seal. Have your helper pull...
