Hi guys I'm just getting ready to put the fuel tank back on and on inspecting the fuel feed pipe that goes into the tank itself, I noticed it was pretty corroded and on inspection (er read bending) it broke! No big deal I suspected it was corroded beyond service I just wanted it confirmed! The pipe nut on the end look to be pretty serviceable as does the nipple/flare on the end of the pipe. Question - how is that nipple/flare attached to the pipe? Is it brazed on? glued? compression fitting? Can I reuse it or do... MORE

Anyone out there wanting a COMPLETELY rust free 79 Midget?? BTW, NO FINANCIAL INTEREST!! Don Non RB front springs would be springs for chrome bumpered cars! And if you're considering this option (which seems a reasonable option) don't forget the bolts that hold the A frame spring pans in place are high tensile steel, so if you need to get some longer ones, which you will do, get longer high tensile ones. Thanks Bob, A thought just came to mind. My stock 73 rwa is a full inch and a half lowe r than my 74, now with the bugeye bonnet. I think perhaps a PO installed ne w springs at some point on the 74 as they look fairly new which makes me wo nder if he installed later model springs by mistake. Would you, are anyone else on the list, happen to know what the actual length measurements of th e uncompressed springs are for the early chrome bumper midgets and for the later rubber bumper model midgets are... I lowered my 1 =BD inches by putting in longer bolts with matching spacers cut from pipe above the spring pans. It is fast, easy and best of all cheap. Nigel is correct, don=92t forget to get grade 8 bolts for the replacements. I took out two bolts opposite each other and put I the longer bolts, then slowly back out the other two short bolts so you always have two bolts holding the spring in place. They can be dangerous. Back out the first two and insert the spacers and snug down then the same with the others.... MORE

Biff, PS I checked out your web site . . . The first new car I bought in my life was identical to your "old grey" also was black body, red interior, and with white walls tires. Wish I had better photograps of it. The only surviving photo is from the front of the door back :-( I traded in my 59 bugeye on it. Hi guys, been a while since I posted last. My "Spridget" project, bugeye bonnet on a 74 rwa midget, is nearing completion and is actually on the road now. Still in its beautiful primer gray color :-) However . . . without the weight of bumpers, window mechanisms, wind wings, and lighter front end weight the body rides about two inches higher than I would like, in fact looks a bit strange because of the body hight. Would like to lower overall at least 1 1/2 - 2 inches. Would appreciate lowering suggestions. Anyone cut off the front spring... MORE

Don, You can lower the front buy installing non RB front springs and if that dosen't lower it enough put in spacers between the spring pan and the A-arm. Spacers can be made from some thick (1/4") wall pipe/tubing and longer mounting bolts. Cutting down the front springs would be my last resort. For the rear a spacer block between the axle and spring. The spacer would be a block the width of the spring with a locating stud on it's top to fit the upper spring plate and a hole in the bottom to clear/locate it on the... MORE

My '71 Sprite has those 2 depressions - not fully stamped through as cut outs - but the same shape. I thought it was an original panel but as the car had gone through several colour changes (Green - Black -Red) before I got it could have had a front-end repair Guy "Guy Weller" 33041... MORE

Now I had to replace this bit last month and just could not believe how easy it was to fit. I was ready for a real struggle. Plenty of washing up liquid and an ordinary not too sharp, non serated dinner knife. Laid one tongue of seal into grove and used the knife to press home the other tongue of seal half inch at a time and just worked my way along it. Knife needs to be blunt to stop cutting the seal. I did have to clean up the metal around the holes for the corner fixing screws... MORE

Hi everyone This is a question for anyone with a desmoged late model 1500 engined Midget. As I have kept with original on my '79 1500 I am in need of what is called the Air injection tube for this emissions system. It is a aprox. 1/2" metal tube that runs from the air pump check valve around the back of the cylinder head and screws into the exhaust manifold. It has a large fitting at the manifold and where it fits into the check valve. It is NOT the air rail type tube with the 4 branches to... MORE

Putting the seal in the bottom of the windscreen, needs lubricant. Before putting the windscreen on the car, put a calking along the ridge. They are know to allow water to come in under the sindscreen. Groments... I found most of them at a local hardware store, a very good hardware store, but still local. Foam under the heater box?? Moss doesn't show them in the cataloge here, I have never seen any, so I made one out of cork gasket material. It works, and you can't see it. I'm going to leave it there.
