I bought and fitted a pair of inertia reel seat belts sold by the MGOC that bolt to the wheel arch. They adjust in orientation so they are in the correct plane to work. They are only on cars originally fitted with inertia real seat belts. When I came to repairing the inner rear arches on mine I changed the mountings for of the inertia reel belts. as my car originally had static belts. Had I known what a pain they were going to be to find I would not have bothered, but its too late now. Has any one got the brakets for the inertia reel seatbelts, even better the seat belts themselves. I bought a new set for my car, but they are an adjustable type. The instructons for them tell you to bolt them directly to he side of the wheel arch, and they just look wrong to me, would be better on the proper bracket that goes up and over the inner arch should anyone have a pair flaoting about!. Hi Guys, I decided that I do not plan on using my Hardtop for my 73 midget. It need to be cleaned since it sat in a desert for 17 years, the rear plastic window is pretty shot, and the rubber is ugly, but there are no cracks, etc. I have it in storage now, and I would love to have it go for a good cause. Hi, Edward... I just sent you a link to a PerTronix supplier which may be helpful to you. Also, LBCarCo carries these at reasonable prices. MiniSpares/MiniMania as well. The Crane set-up uses an optical sensor rather than an HED however, I've us ed Cranes for many years in the past on both PO'd "tuned" VW Bug and '74 Spridget and have found them to be ultra dependable/reliable as well. My horns don't work, The car is an early 1500 midget with the horn push in the centre of the steering wheel. The slipring contact is live, but the steering column shaft is not earthed. If I use a wire to connect the slip ring connector to the shaft the horn won't work, however if I jumper it to the outer part of the column it does work. Mitch..IMHO.... if you are going to use the Judson, I would call APT and source the best quality valve they have to offer. Otherwise, unless you've got a hairy cam in there or are running 10.0-1 or a higher static compression ratio, standard quality/design should be fine normally aspirated. About oversized exhaust valves....many moons ago when the first 1275 Cooper S types came out, they went with a larger 1.4 intake valve and subsequently, went to a larger than stock exh.valve to "match", feeling this would give more powe r. Easy. the drum brake sub axels have 4 bolts holding the backplate on. the disc brake ones only have three. Two large ones holding the caliper on and a smaller one on the opposite side halfway down holding the dust shield on. And no the stub axel is of not interchangeable, however the king pin would appear to be so, as I used a set from moss on my old Austin A40 Farina Mk1 which had the drum brake setup on the front. G'day Guy Many cars in the BMC range had a common bolt pattern for the front brake backing plates. Not too surprising when you think they could have been drawn up by the same designer or draftsman. Larger cars had (wait for it) larger brakes. Disc brakes were quite rare and, in the 1950's and early 1960's, only used on expensive up-market cars, such as Jaguar. The Austin A40 Farina had 8" drum brakes, deemed necessary to slow down it's heavier sedan body shell. Any electronic folks out there? I need a part for an old Technics receiver I want to use for my garage stereo. It is a model SA-310, and I need an IC chip # STK2038II.
