No, Russ, yopu do not have to get into the trans to deal with the clutch slave cylinder - it's mounted on the outside of the bellhousing just behind the engine. Unless you are really, really skinny, you will need to jack the left side up to gain access. If you have a 1500 (and if you do, I feel sorry for you ;)) the slave is secured by a pinch bolt - otherwise, it's held by two bolts. "Jim" 35991... MORE

Hi Abestea, The inner sill connects to the outer sill at the bottom. There should be no gap. The floor panel then attaches to the lower part of the inner sill. Your inner sill should be near vertical and flat. I guess your end filler pieces are to blame here. If you have both sills removed at once (big no no) the body will definitely sag and you will have to jack it back into position to ensure its straight and door gaps are good. Frequently, people jack and adjust the alignment to the doors fit perfectly, then carefully weld a piece of pipe or angle iron from the front of the door opening to the rear, just tack it in, on both sides and then form an "X" from the front of one door opening to the rear of the other door opening and visa versa. Would not hurt to tack these two pieces together where the "X" crosses also. Then before doing anything else, re measure and or fit the doors in place to double check a perfect fit. With out the... Hi List, Had to tell about my experience last weekend. Went to the Madison (Wisconsin) Sports Car club 50th anniversery dinner last weekend and got to chat one on one with Stirling Moss. Asked about his experience with Sprites (since I run one in vintage) and he was very enthusiastic about them. He talked about running one at Laguna Seca (sp.?) a few years ago and how much higher reving it was than the factory cars back in 59-62. He really enjoys them as you can get away with "overdriving" and "abusing" them, without loosing it. Great to see... MORE

I was a member over a year ago and had to drop out. Well I'm back and this time I need to seel my 1973 Midget. If anyone is close to Las Vegas and wants it, it's going cheap at $750. It has sagged more with the sills off but there was some sagging before i removed the old sills. The doors were not lining up properly when i got the car. I have done a combination of jacking the car under the floor and jacking up the top of the bulkhead to get the alignment correct. This is no easy feat as it required a lot of patience to get it right! the 100S model was built at Warwick and was definitely an Austin-Healey, and I believe some of the special Sprites were too - the Le Mans and Targa Florio ones, though not general production models. no IIRC no spridget was made in Warwick, in fact I don't think any Austin Healy was made in Warwick, only the Healeys that were made before the link with Austin were made there, and thus the production records were not recorded by BMC for these early healeys. I just applied for the Heritage Certificate for my sprite. After I sent my request I noticed that they cannot provide the info for cars made in Warwick. My car is a Mk 2 that I bought in Warwick from Donald Healey in Jan. 62. I'm wondering if it might have been made in Warwick and my certificate request will bounce or were sprites made elsewhere? Welcome, Jim.... rear RWA Midgets have a nice "balanced" look their square wheel-arched brothers don't share. Fr'instance, a Frogeye bonnet looks far more at home on the former as compared to the latter. A "tuned" 1380 matched with a 5 speed.... excellent!!! Dear Virgil and all, I have a block. I am not sure what it is but I am sure those on the list can tell me. It is very available in San Diego. Here is the hard part, get ready to laugh at me or yell names etc. It had been setting out in the rain for god knows how many years. There is surface rust inside and outside. Hi Vigil, The only 1275's with a potential problem with it in racing trim are the very first ones with the thin flange block. However, they're still pretty good but also pretty scarce! All the others that came in Spridgets are essentially the same. All the rear drive car engines are different than the mini ones.
