David My stance on originality is well known on this list, it's my opinion and as such I'm entitled to express it. You can shove a Chevvy V8 engine in one, you can slap spoilers on it, you can put side skirts and chop the bodywork around as much as you like - but it ceases to be a Spridget and becomes a kit-car. Nigel, I certainly respect your desire for originality and admire the effort you are putting into the restoration of your car. The propensity over here to modify these cars, perhaps more so than the British, I am sure is influenced by the fact they are still relatively plentiful on this side of the pond. Rubber bumper cars in particular are very inexpensive here in California because many collectors dislike the rubber bumpers and see them as a bastardization of the original design to satisfy auto laws in the US and the stringent smog regulations in California. You'd need to put on earlier front wings (bolt straight on) and the rear and of the rear wings are flattened off under the rear lights on a 1500 not rounded off like the earlier models. Hi guys, Whats the best way to re-finish painted wire wheels back to their former glory? I know most of you will say - grit/sand blast and epoxy coat them, but that's too easy and too expensive. When you consider that will pretty much cost 50 GBP per wheel, to be done properly, I can buy a brand new painted wire wheel for 80GBP, and probably sell the old wire wheels for 10GBP each, so for an extra 100GBP, I can have a set of brand new painted wire wheels - not very economic is it. A few months ago there was a tool on ebay for installing this nasty little circlip. It looked like it threaded into where the hydraulic pipe goes on the cylinder and then another threaded ring compressed the circlip until it popped into place. I missed out on the ebay one but would now like to get myself one, preferably in the UK but if you know where they are available in the US then let me know that too. Well folks... As of tonight, the B-GT (67) is nearly ready for the first road test. I need to get a tire tube replaced and check the differential fluid before I drop it onto the ground and try for a short drive. The new parts I needed to order were... I'm cleaning out some stuff in garage and came across several 8-track tapes I bought several years ago (had thought I might put an 8-track player in my Bugeye, but probably won't). I believe tapes are playable, but don't have any way of checking. Anyone interested? Roger, I totally agree, and do the same. Whatever it is, concentration on driving takes priority. Suspend anything else immediately whenever the need arises I rarely listen to the radio as most stations involve talk and talking distracts. I do listen to tapes of well-loved music which is familiar and does not distract. I also like the sound of the A- series, but sometimes want both. What detracts from listening in a Sprite is wind noise at anything like a decent (or is that indecent) speed, not the tuneful sounds of a well revved engine. My thought that I... MORE

I have recently acquired a H.M.C.Co.Ltd hardtop(as in page 68 of the Terry Horler Bible)it needs a complete refurbishment,however this includes new rubbers to the side windows which seem to be one piece,together with the clips,front & rear. my cousin had a drivers side headrest with speakers built in, in his Austin 1300GT in about 1972/3. These used seats with a very similar design to the Midget, so the same headrests ought to fit. The chances of finding some today are pretty slim though! David "David Jacobs" 23809... MORE
Has anyone tried setting up an output from a radio to provide a connection for an earpiece? Sort of like a m/c setup? Could I use the ordinary speaker output, wired into a jack plug socket, or would the output be too great for an ordinary earpiece? I fancy connecting to a socket which I could position in the inside face of the rear door post. Then I could use an ordinary in-the-ear unit with a jackplug. I know it wouldn't be stereo, unless I used 2, but in my case it still wouldn't be as I am almost... MORE
Alan It seems you're following in my footsteps or viceversa, having done/doing this exact same job myself. Perhaps you can benefit from my experience. First off, forget using any kind of power tool on the underseal its a waste of time. The technique that I found works reasonably well on removing the underseal is as follows, I'm afraid however you tackle this job, it's not pleasant, will take ages is boring and messy as hell. Well, Guy Weller..... The tonneau when "down" would block one of those speakers mounted in the area (otherwise neat location, BTW!:) you speak of, Guy. So, I too will experiment with a single earpiece set-up initially and see how it works out. "Roger" on the ear plugs...used them all the time together with Dave Clark headset "gel" ear pads when flying the friendly skies. Audible sound was "behind us" in any event, most of the "hearing" taking place in the spine and bones (vibrations).
